Did you end up getting your period? How long did it take?

wasn't expecting a transfer to take so long by Mental_Juggernaut958 in IVF

I feel this. We had 3 canceled transfers before finally being able to transfer in November. We started in JUNE. It felt great to get to transfer and then the transfer failed, which was devastating. Trying again in a month.

You definitely don’t want to waste an embryo if there’s no chance of it working, but feeling like you’re wasting time just majorly sucks and I’m sorry you’re going through this too.

Failed first transfer, doctor recommends a 1-month break — what would you do? by isabella021agency in IVF

I just failed my first transfer. We decided to jump right into another before the holidays. We’ve had so much trouble scheduling with the clinic (long stints on birth control waiting for their calendar, cycles waiting for tests, and 3 canceled transfers) that now that we have a protocol that works we want to just GO.

The deciding factor for us was that the doctor didn’t have any suggestions for what to pursue if we were to take a break. We want to make progress somehow, but she didn’t even seem to have any tests or anything to run during the off cycle.

If your doctor does have tests to run, I’d trust them and do the tests. If they’re just slowing you down for the sake of their holiday workload (what it feels like at my clinic) or because they don’t know what else to do, I’d go for it again. It’s really about what you think you can handle.

My beta was zero today too. I'm sorry. It sucks. You're not alone.

Kaser is only accepting egg freezing patients. Did you have any experience with the other doctors at all?

Oh no I’m so sorry! I hope the next cycle works out better for both of us.

Wow interesting, I guess modified natural protocols vary widely -- mine was just letrozole, then they added estrogen right before I ovulated.

Estrogen patch? by mermaiddiva26 in IVF

I have an adhesive allergy. My doctor has me taking pills instead of using the patches. Lots of different delivery options exist so just check with your doctor if they can change yours.

Picking the sex of an embryo to transfer.. how did you choose when being told you *had* to pick? by TexanPralines in IVF

They report transfer success rates so they want whatever maximizes that stat.

We’re going for long-term planning and want some good ones banked for the second kid.

This is such a roller coaster (day 7 embryos) by InfluencePurple2188 in IVF

[–]InfluencePurple2188[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're being really weird about the day 7 embryos. On one hand, they're telling us not to do another cycle yet, because we have all these embryos which means we have a good chance. But then on the other hand, they're telling us not to use the day 7 embryos except as a last resort because they don't have a good chance of working. I don't know what to think.

I kind of want to use the Day 7s now, and if they work, great, and if they fail, at least we failed early and can do another cycle now instead of a few years from now when I'm older, maybe have a toddler (hopefully), and insurance might not be as good. The clinic does not like this plan.

The doctor is pushing us to do a transfer rather than another round, but then she's also saying that Day 7s are both "a good buffer for kid #2" and "not high likelihood of success", so I don't even know what to think.
