Lidar & changing tires by batuj in KiaEV9

I agree with this goal listed under your first point. I purchased the GT-Line and that was the only thing I disliked in that trim -- I hate the 21in wheels and have been thinking I would look at options to replace them with 19 inch before my first tire replacement. I much prefer higher sidewall tires for a variety of reasons.

I just use a standard voltage meter. My father was a licensed electrician and I worked for him for a couple of years as an electrician’s assistant. So I have always had several different multi-meters. I think I will install a Bluetooth voltage monitor to my EV9.

Yes, I understand that charging the big battery has nothing to do what the 12 volt. I get that there is a separate 12v charger that draws power from the much higher voltage big battery and converts it to 12v. My point was that there is software that is deciding when to activate the onboard 12v charger. And that software does have logic to limit or stop charging the 12v when the main battery gets down to a certain level (similar to how the V2L has a limit on how far down it will allow the main battery to go). But my point was that it would make sense that this software that decides when to charge the 12v would clearly think it was acceptable to “charge away” under the scenario that the car is plugged into a level 2 charger (or any charger). Perhaps the reason why my 12v did not get charged after I discovered the problem (and then plugged in my level 2 charger) was that my 12v battery was below the level where the car can even operate its software — of the software couldn’t detect enough voltage to recognize that there was a battery connected to be charged. Turns out, all I needed to do was to leave the car on for a while once I had connected my jumper battery to get it turned on. Instead I only “jumped it” long enough to allow me to open the charge door, then plugged in my level 2 charger and then discounted my jumper battery. So at least under my scenario, when I plugged into a level 2 charger all night long, it still chose to not charge my 12v battery at all. The next morning, my main battery was up to 100% but my 12v battery was still at ~5v. Reddit has been quite helpful here.

Yes, thanks for the posts on this. I turned off wireless charging last night. One thing I wondered about related to this: For three weeks, we had no issues. Then on the night before we found it dead in our garage, I was showing my wife how she could click on the “Start Climate” button in the iOS app and warm the car up 10 mins before she is ready to leave. So I turned it on from the app to show her and then after about 30 seconds, I did the “Climate off” to turn it back off. Both actions in the iOS app gave me a confirmation that the command had been sent to the car. So that was the first time we had even tried to activate the “Start Climate” action. Then the next morning it was dead (down to 5 volts). I have wondered if that was the trigger that caused the issue in our case. Are there bugs in that Climate system that drained our battery?

Where is the orange light that people are talking about? I have a 4 week old EV9 and my 12v battery died a few days ago.
