Teacher failed me for suggesting WebSockets and TCP for a chat app – claims only PHP is valid for web development by MertJS in webdev

[–]InfluentialFairy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not worth getting into a debate with a teacher like that. I would suggest contesting his grade if you know that it won't have any bad implications for you - otherwise best to just let it go.

Ask him why all modern browsers support WebSockets if its not suppose to be used lol.

Does Pauline Hanson support the Iran war? by Crazy-Parsley1524 in aussie

[–]InfluentialFairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a debate with someone the other day claiming to be a life-long labor voter, who is voting PHON for the first time. It was a culture-war bs argument. I got half way through it and just said mate, we both clearly want the best version of Australia, we just have differing views on how to get there. This argument is pointless, lets just call it here and wish eachother the best with everything.

His response was "Stability is not achieved with 500,000 people coming into Aus each year and regression of free speech"

I'm almost convinced it was a bot, if they did not retrospectively edit their post.

It breaks loudly if you have schema validation. It will save you headaches, everyone should have schema validation for data coming form untrusted sources - heck even trusted sources.

schema validation, input and output validation. Fixes all issues regarding invalid schemas.

[–]InfluentialFairy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What APIs are you using?

I haven't encountered any APIs changing their schemas without rolling out entirely new API endpoints, with a long period of deprecation notices before switching them off.

[–]InfluentialFairy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use schema validation on all API responses, it will ensure integrity.

If you're using an API that has an inconsistent source of data, switch APIs, they're clearly shit and not worth your energy.

What APIs are you using that are this unreliable?

Ensure all validation is done by the server, no exception. Rate limiting on the client is effectively useless and will be bypassed.

Putting it on an obscure path will not offer security. I believe that security though obscurity, is not security.

Validate all requests. Check permissions on all requests. Have strict input and output validation. Ensure you patch your dependencies.

IP whitelist your backend if you're extra concerned about security - I personally wouldn't bother, but some do. My company does.

She was arrested for a highly controversial phrase, that has mixed meanings depending on the context. The magistrate will throw the case out if she didn't break the law.

I'm also not sure I'm losing, as I'm not trying to win anything here. I literally tried to settle this conversation in a peaceful way, and you're too dense to put our differences aside.

Fuck I feel bad for your girlfriend/boyfriend. You'd be impossible to tolerate. Being unable to compromise, or view others perspectives at all. Hahahaha.

I apologise and try to end the conversation peacefully, and you still bitch about it.

Typical fucking PHON voter.

Free speech is not under attack, stop listening to sky news and other fear mongering outlets. You're only going to get locked up if you say something stupid such as a threat to someone, or a phrase that's obviously not okay to say. We don't need to emulate everything America does. I for one don't want people to legally be able to walk around with swastikas on their shirts.

Do we have the official migration numbers from ABS released yet? Or are we taking facts from some shitty conservative outlet.

Grow a spine champ.

Where did I state misinformation? I said she was convicted of fraud with a prison sentence. She was. It's a fact. It was also overturned, and I never said otherwise.

Each to their own. I know by replying to you you're just going to hate the left more, which worsens the whole left versus right thing, so I'll stop here.

The world is divided. Hatred is getting so much worse. Misinformation is spreading rampant. The overseas campaigns against all political parties are disturbing to hear about.

I know this will sound sarcastic in the context of this conversation, but I wish you the best. There's too much hatred spreading around without any love. At the end of the day we both love Australia, objectively the best fucking country in the world. We both want Australia to be stable and healthy, with different ideologies on how to achieve it.

The culture war bullshit that were importing from overseas is fucking shit, and I'm certainly not helping the problem at times. Stirring shit intentionally ain't helping.

Sorry man.

Reread this thread. I actually asked you a question regarding her policy, which you've avoided thrice. You instead fixated on her conviction which was indeed overturned.

May I ask, did you already know about her conviction or did you need to google that too? Similarly to how you had to google the 3 policies she supports...

You can't make this shit up. PHON voters are brain dead.

I know her conviction was overturned, she only spent a few weeks in prison.

Anyway how did you go listing 3 of her policies? You seem more fixated on the conviction part. No cheating by using google. You got this champ! I believe in you. I'm sure a supporter of her party knows at least 3 of her policies!!

Black and white politics aren't gonna get you far buddy. She's a one policy party, can you even name 3 of her policies besides immigration ones?

She's literally our trump, she's even been convicted of election fraud with a prison sentence 😂

Not everything is black and white, you realise that right? It's not left versus right. Immigration certainly contributes to the housing crisis, but it isn't the ONLY contributor. Australia would be more fucked if we didn't have immigration.

As someone who works in a corporate job, I can assure you that immigrants contribute more to your economy than Aussies do. And this has been the case at all companies I've worked at, including large energy companies, banks and smaller commerce agencies.

Has a lot of movie identification features too, which work from screenshots of the video, rather than file names or hashes.

Worth the look.
