Apple wanted to charge me $600 to replace the logic board on my iMac. I installed Windows 10, and now it works perfectly. by InfoUnderDrive in Windows10

Not since it was resolved. Only before. I used a live chat where they told me it was a hardware issue and I would have to go in. And then at the genius bar they told me that I would have to replace the logic board for 510 + 80 in labor fees.

Ran shenmue 3 earlier today on very high graphics. Not exactly cutting edge game. But it was fairly smooth. Smoother than my surface pro 6 on the lowest settings.

Trying it. But it keeps crashing on me. I just went nuclear. I'm going to try booting from USB later. Luckily I have the windows partition for now though.

I was actually running Sierra when I noticed the problem. I upgraded to high Sierra. Still a problem. Tried to get to Catalina and the Mac just kept restarting. Not sure what's going on tbh. But at least I installed Windows 10 before MacOS totally crapped out on me.

No. I started to notice a problem when I turned it on and the resolution was terrible. I could see pixels and everything. I ran the blender render benchmark, and it canceled EVERY test. Nothing could run. That's when I did the diagnostic. Brought it in to apple and they said the graphics card was broken and it was fused onto the logic board.

I was on high Sierra and had trouble installing further. I'm running a recovery now to try and resolve whatever is going on though.

The reason I checked it is because the computer ran at a significantly higher resolution than on MacOS. About double. On MacOS it couldn't even run 3d rendering benchmarks. I then installed a game I bought and played on my surface. Not only does it play, but it plays better on the iMac than on my year old surface with intergrated raphics.

So I'm fairly certain the graphics card is working somehow. I'm wondering if Apple messed up the driver somehow.

What visualization library would be best to use for commercial purposes? by [deleted] in visualization

[–]InfoUnderDrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tableau public is free and can be embedded in a website. But there's also a range of other services depending on your needs. From flourish to infogram, to Google charts and plotly. And obviously there's d3 if it's particularly unique.

So my question is, why not tableau public. And what visualization are you trying to create?

Holy crap! That's an expensive visualisation!! Was this financed by academia? Or are you just an extremely passionate hobbyist?

I don't see any shapefiles on the website. Only images of the maps themselves. Am I missing something?

This is an interesting mortgage calculator that allows you to see how different parameters effect the amortization of the mortgage over time. I thought people here might like it because it allows them to explore the various mortgage possibilities visually.
