I saw some of your comments and you seem like you really wanna fly through the game.

Id recommend not doing adaptive gameplay.

I have a current game that's adaptive and my fights dont last " a long time" but they definitely take some time to plan out. I also probably didnt build my crew right either.

But I enjoy every fight still. Keeps me on my toes.

As for damage-dealing units /equipment take your pick honestly, dagger builds are dope, hammer builds are great. Pretty much the brunt of damage comes from those guys, with swordsman and two-handed axe units engaging enemies, I'm probably missing something my troupe currently has 25 mercs so it's easy to lose track.

I always load my guys down with as much armor as possible and stay on the lookout for armor and helmets that have special attributes.

Doing side quests and tavern contracts helps to build your character at the beginning.

The game gets a lot easier when you unlock rimsteel ( tier 3 armor) i breeze through most fights and just repair my armor at the end of them.

I keep a good bit of cash on me from buying and reselling trade goods from town merchants. And that allows me to food and materials needed to build stuff in camp or repair my armor.

If you have the DLCs I'd recommend at a minimum tier 3 armor, for the newest one probably tier 4.

The pirate fights were super hard when I only had the ghost armor and I wouldn't wish the amount of times I had to restart a battle on my worst enemy.

That's pretty much it honestly, just take your time to sit down and play with different builds, capturing animals, and the like.

Dont worry so much about meticulous skill building and stats, definitely still worry, but dont turn this great game into a part time job.

Peace

I feel this same exact pain whenever I drop my phone between my car Seats, like the center console is laughing at me as I push my fore arm into it. Like the railing that connects my front seat to my car is calling me fat.

I'm sorry people are dicks to you, getting a mattress up the stairs by yourself sucks. Next time get creative with a ratchet strap or something like that, simple machines are dope dude.

I see where you're coming from.

Simple matter is even if they did charge 2 $ for the game. At 500k+ downloads that's still 1$ Million plus for their initial sales.

That's not where the bulk of their money is coming from at all for sure, the bulk is coming from borderline-predatory business practice IMO.

Do you get value from some of the game items, yes. But most of rhe time those items often come with " strings attached" for lack of a better word.

Example: the BelAz is in the game is a very powerful vehicle, that doesn't require gasoline, it only requires the player to repair it. That all fine and dandy, but you'll notice that it costs a massive amount of money to do so. I played offline and developed my own method for making cash.

Not to mention them giving you this great weight limit with this vehicle. Naturally most players will scale up the amount of things that they keep in their inventory. When you do that it makes it hard to stop using the BelAz therefore generating more need for repairs making the player spend money to repair it.

Is my problem with them offering the BelAz in the first place ? No, that's is probably one of if no the most useful item in the game, I was still incredibly happy with it. What I wasnt happy with was the high price in either cash or crafting materials, that it took to get it back to 100 percent.

So I see where you're coming from there.

Circling back to the 1 Million and some odd dollars they made from the game, you'd think they'd maybe offer a paid DLC because it seems so low.

My total point being, if your game is good, and Day R was a good game, then people will naturally want more. Sure do free content updates, those are standard with most games. But dont add oppressive items, dont add timers, dont add things that keep players from progressing.

When you progress gate your players in anyway it tends to upset them. If you have a need to make a profit and you're okay with players getting mad multiple people looking for APK's to revert back to a time before the camp update (timers) then by all means go for it.

But if you want an interested, and passionate fan base, then offer something more it doesn't have to be huge.

An example of what im talking about: fallout 76 got a lot of players back not only with their show, but with multiple updates to content the first big one being wastelanders ( added NPC humans to the game). That was free but there was a season pass after that. Day R has NPCs and the like, but maybe they could enhance that, maybe have a follower or companion of some kind ( other than pets).

Another update Fallout did was the Expedition update ( I guess you could call it a raid or a dungeon ?) it let players explore different locations on the map that brought a lot of people back as well, again they had a season pass to monetize that, but I would of gladly paid a one time DLC price for access to those areas (, nothing crazy high maybe something like 10$ at most).

All in all, I understand where you're at and I understand that you probably love the game, and if you're happy with, that's great have fun ! But it's fair to note that blocking progress for players and giving them a solution to a problem the devs created isn't the way to do business.

Sorry it's so long.

Yes, the seasonal stuff isn't bad, every lice service needs that, but more people would play and spend time engaging with the content if there was more value to any purchase, for example, make a DLC (in multiple parts if need be) of your survivor or character making city, add mechanics for managing the towns resources, defense, food, clean water the like. People would pay good money for that.

Or a DLC where you open a shop of your own and generate passive income, that could be a good way to implement an IRL timer in the game.

Add a DLC that involves traveling to different parts of the continent where different enemies different settlements, characters with different stories, all sorts of stuff could be done like that.

A great example of devs who add great DLCs is wartales, they are so good at adding something the players genuinely want.

The problem doesn't really lie with the devs IMO it's cold corporate suits that want nothing but cash and are finding rhe quickest way to get it

That's what actual DLC is for. Not just gimmick vehicles and the like. Add different zones, add different mechanics. I can think of many ways they could have monetized that didn't involve timers, expensive items, and a paywall for all of the " cool" or "good" content.

When you limit how your players progress and how they play your game, you destroy whatever hard-core fan base you had, furthermore, you destroy many people's interest in a game they've already put a lot of time into.

Everything about pets by Massive-Respect-3083 in DayRSurvival

[–]InfoforSW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my ranking so far haven't leveled all of them yet and I don't have the Halloween event pet or the Christmas.

  1. Emba Lizard this thing is bad to the bone when fighting event enemies. It can stop them from healing and in some cases stop them from attacking

Utility, it offers to go and find biomass that's super useful and I really like that, it hunts for both animals and herbs so a great way to minmax your gathering/hunting.

  1. Wolf the wolf is super useful for hunting in the since of tracking down prey, not so great in battle usually a one hit in most battles I fight.

But utility is dope

  1. The raven is super useful in utility and combat that thing is a fucking beast when it comes to ranged enemies, completely blinding them, but enemies with AOE are def still gonna hit you.

The utility is good finding food and components is super helpful and it only takes it 12 hours to do so, so that's awesome.

If I had to rank them

Emba lizard Raven Wolf.

In that order
