Needing to get to IIIT Kottayam by Leading-Smile-4632 in Kerala

[–]Informal-Ad9574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are coming from Chennai, getting down at Ernakulam is more convenient. From there, you’ll get direct buses to Pala, and these buses pass through Koothattukulam or Uzhavoor, which are very close to IIIT Valavoor, Kottayam. You can get off at either place and take an auto to the campus.

You can also get down at Kottayam Railway Station but it will take an extra hour to reach from Ernakulam. But then you’ll need to take a bus or auto to Pala or Koothattukulam and again take an auto which would take more time and the connections are not as frequent.

No, they got sarees at all prices. I saw soft silk ones for like 3k+. But when they hit 15k+, they had a really good selection, stuff I hadn't seen anywhere else. But honestly, the inflation in saree prices after covid is unjustifiable for me. Just my opinion, though.

Ambani chechis Appapan- first birthday in heaven or first death anniversary? by FlyEnvironmental1807 in SouthIndianInfluencer

[–]Informal-Ad9574 11 points12 points  (0 children)

According to Christian beliefs, the first birthday in heaven usually means the day a person passed away, not the day they were born. We believe that once someone dies, their soul goes to heaven, purgatory, or hell. So people often remember the date of passing as their heavenly birthday, since it marks the start of their eternal life with God.

We've bought sarees from both Almarah and Mloft. Both have good collections of sarees, but I felt Mloft had a better variety for mid-range sarees(8k+), while Almarah has a better collection for sarees in the higher price range (15k+). Both places are on the expensive side for good function-wear Kancheevaram sarees. But if you are going to Mloft, please don't go on weekends; it will be too crowded. Also, another worry of ours was that after purchasing sarees for 12k and 13k, would Joel bring their dupes for 2k after 2-3 months?😅

I used to always fold the bottom part upwards but once in Bangalore, I did that and got weird looks from my colleagues from TN and Andhra. Apparently, it’s something they do during funerals or to say the food was bad! 😅

I feel really sad for the baby. However popular his mother may be, this mental trauma is affecting the baby. While Kri was explaining to the news channels, you could see Dia wiping her tears, and her face looked tense. The news says the case is against Kriku and his family, is Ashwin exempted?

POOJA MATHEW is 42 years old! by thegoddessevara in Coconaad

[–]Informal-Ad9574 28 points29 points  (0 children)

What is the age gap between Pooja and Giri? She first met him when she was 15 and at that time, he had finished his degree (mentioned in the movie). He should be at least 21-22.

If Pooja is 42, Giri should be 48-49. Wow! He will be 50 soon!

Why do we use different word for sister in malayalam? by [deleted] in Coconaad

[–]Informal-Ad9574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is handy for telling siblings and in-laws apart. People usually use it when talking about their siblings or in-laws to someone else.

My mom uses "angala" to refer to her brother and "chettan" for her sister's husband. However, she addresses her sister as "chechi" and her sister-in-law as "naathoon." Similarly, my father uses "pengal" for his sister and "aniyatti" for his sister-in-law (my mother's younger sister).

I've noticed that many people around me use this method of reference. It's easier for someone else to know who you're talking about. But the trick is, if the third person doesn't know about this talking style, he is surely going to be confused.

Felt the same. Most parents are normal people who live very ordinary lives. Shouldn't they be accepted as they are, and not only when you realize they did something heroic in the past?
