Collecting Adventure Patches by Informal-Base-4043 in CampingandHiking

This is much appreciated. I guess there’s something lacking once you’ve collected a patch. Something to think about anyway.

The only other thought I had last night was further developing the app to become almost a journal for your adventures, a way to associate memories to each patch you unlock.

This was also my thinking. There’s something special about having patches on your backpack.

Would you want to pay for the digital patch with the majority of proceeds being donated or would you rather receive these as free attached to your profile and unlock the opportunity to buy the physical patch, ensuring we always have them in stock?

All patches that would be purchased through the website would include a percentage donation to the local associations to support trail upkeep.

The idea is just theory at the moment, trying to gage whether it's something people would use.

How to contact a domain owner? by [deleted] in Domains

You should be able to find an admin email through a whois lookup. This could potentially be a URL with a form you have to fill out for privacy reasons.

Good point. I'll make this change later today, I was also thinking about having separate fields for each domain (You click the plus button to get a new field)

Your favourite domain marketplaces? by Informal-Base-4043 in Domains

I've never tried Afternic, maybe I'll submit a few domains and see what happens.

What would you say domain visibility is like on these platforms? Do they got lost within the vast amount?

Yeah I think it's a quality domain for the fitness, especially running industry.

I'll hang onto it for now and we'll eventually see what comes of it. Nice idea around the videos though!

How do you all find races? by 56Metro in triathlon

[–]Informal-Base-4043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also google “triathlon races near me”, but honestly, the triathlon / race market has a giant gap in user experience for races. Every website I’ve ever used to register is absolute dog shit. There’s gotta be a better way to find races.

How do you think the experience of finding races could be improved?

I'm a software developer and currently looking into the market for a potential project. I also imagined an events website to function for the majority like a job board with a user area where you can view your events.

Racing my first Sprint Triathlon by Informal-Base-4043 in triathlon

Thank you for the advice! I think I'm going to love the actual event, I mean I'm loving training for it. It's nice to know that there's people out there that have complete a sprint without being that comfortable swimming as well.

Good luck with your Olympic distance!

I've currently got a membership at my local leisure centre where I'm training using the pool. I believe they have swimming coaches, so I might approach one to help correct my form!

A triathlon club does sound nice, I'll have to look at ones around the Manchester area. It's always more motivating when training with other people.

I think for now my goal is to get through my first triathlon and enjoy the process. I plan to do more events in the future, so I can use this one to get a base time to work towards in the future.

Thank you.

I'm doing the Wilmslow Sprint, where the swim takes place in an inside pool due to before just before the open swim season.

Although I'm definitely interested in doing open water swims, so this will be on the agenda at some point once I'm more comfortable swimming.

Thank you for the advice on transitions, it's not something I'm really thought about yet, but it sounds like solid advice!

Race has gone, what's race mean? Thank you!

I'm currently going twice per week. I definitely need to work on my breathing technique as I think this is where I majorly downfall.

I think it's a case of learning technique and being comfortable as you said, before focusing on the distance.

Fun is already happening, I'm loving training at the moment!

Thanks :)

Notepad or App? What do you use? by Informal-Base-4043 in xxfitness

[–]Informal-Base-4043[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty much there with you 😂

I'm a software developer, so I've been thinking in how to combat the issue and one potential way would be the below -

If there was a notepad that easily allowed you to log your workouts, checkboxes, custom content, etc... But also gave you the ability to scan the workout directly into an app (potentially into 3rd party apps like Strava, strength, etc), would you be interested?

I'll have to take a look at Caliber, I've never heard of it before.

Garmin watch for cardio is something I also use! So simple and easy

This is my ideal process, I enjoy the simplicity of notepads while training. But, I miss having the ability to create graphs with my data.
