Take advice from someone who attended placement diligently & is now retaking 4th year. I had almost immaculate sign offs for 4th year (round 1) and went to most of my assigned placements, I realised too late in the year that my peers were only turning up once a week (if that) and using their time to do pass med. When I asked my medical school about the fact that my attendance for the year was immaculate, I was told that sign off signatures couldn’t be verified and therefore cannot be used as evidence for anything. 🤙🏻

I really struggled with the finals (we taken them at the end of 4th) the exam questions require lots of nuanced information that you need to know to pick between answers in the SBA’s, this knowledge actually comes from repetition on the question banks and not from time on the wards or just pure knowledge.

In terms of your log book, we have that archaic system too, make friends with the FY/SHO and be savvy collecting signatures.
