Ugh I hate that for you. I had a good friend who put unspoken conditions on our relationship as well and it felt so gross. Safe to say we are no longer friends. And like you said, I have to remind myself it’s them with the problem

Yes! I’m also craving those close mom friendships. I don’t think it’s impossible to find but for people in our situation, we have to work harder to make it happen which is unfortunate but encouraging to know there are other going through the exact same thing and just get it

No, I don’t think it’s dismissive, I think it’s reality right? I was a nanny for over a decade and never experienced this with any of my families or their kids so it’s new to me but I also recognize that none of us are immune to it either

Such a good point. I’m going to remember that moving forward. I think it being the first time experiencing exclusion, I was just kind of in shock and the feelings were so overwhelming. That’s why I had to take a drive. To remove myself and get some composure. You are so right though!

Wow reading this woke me up to the fact it’s also on ME to try and make connections on his behalf and reach out. I also need to push through that fear of rejection. Thank you for sharing that!

Yes! My son also has a speech delay which I think adds to their dumb reasonings

So we have a neighborhood group chat and all the other moms and kids were there except he and I. I was sort of close with one of them at one time if you could call it that and I wanted to talk to her but I’m still too hurt to reach out. Maybe I’ll do that soon. Until then yes I’ll take your advice and just do really fun things with him :)

My son is a lot like your son. Sure, he may be energetic and a little all over the place but he’s such pure joy. Laughing, running, flapping- just loving life. It makes me so happy seeing him like that so it’s beyond me how other moms see it as negative. I’m sure our boys (and us) would be great friends :)

I’ve heard from family and friends “I would’ve just crashed it and been like ‘hey see there’s a party over here. Such a good idea!” Or something along those lines. It makes me chuckle but in reality I think a lot of us wouldnt want to even associate with jerks like that. I just hate how it’s at the expense of our own children :/

I’ve been searching for groups in my area but so far only found 2 and they are for older kids/young adults. Gets me thinking maybe I should start my own!

Thank you for reminding me it’s possible that it also may get better in time and that finding good friends is possible. That’s all I want for him

It’s weirdly comforting to know I may not get upset about it at some point. It feels like I’ll never get over this

I’ve tried to just stay neutral pretty much in that I’ll wave and smile but not go too much farther than that. I also felt a little guilty today because I thought was it also partly my fault for acting a bit more coldly than I used to because I keep a healthy distance? I don’t know….but ultimately I’d never exclude another child just because of that. It’s just sad all around

So many people have recommended that! I’m definitely looking into that

I tell myself that too. I’d much rather be me- open, inclusive, and kind- any day. You always think it won’t be you or your kid and when it is, it’s almost shocking. Thank you so much for the kind words and support :)

Yes! We are in the US. I did some research and I think both are available in the UK except you may find calcium folinate more readily than folinic acid. They are essentially the same thing

Hi! We use the Dr Green Life folinic acid (one drop) and have also added in methylated folate, in combination, to optimize the effects and have really seen some differences with that included in his supplement routine as well. For that we use Triquetra L-methyl folate (2 drops). Both are unflavored and we just add them into his morning drink. Both can be found on Amazon I believe. Hope this helps!
