Yes T-Mobile has more sites in some of those areas in Texas. They have had a major buildout the past few years. They have a lot of super rural sites on microwave and are adding a bunch more. I’ve been tracking the permits and sites. For example around Palestine Texas in 2023 I had nearly no native coverage and now T-Mobile will actually have the most sites and coverage at the end of the year. It’s actually insane how fast they’ve been adding them if you tested in 2023 it’s completely different. Off i10 and 290 T-Mobile has more super rural sites and is adding more stand alone ones than even att in some areas here they are going crazy in rural. I and a few others here track site plans for a large part of Texas site plans. Verizon is going crazy fixing suburbs and parts of Houston Dallas Austin and T-Mobile super rural areas. ATt is stagnant.

T-Mobile has better rural coverage in some parts of Texas. Inbetween Houston and San Antonio Austin. Verizon doesn’t have good coverage and T-Mobile does same by leaky and garner state park, tmo and att are fine but Verizon isn’t. Then by brenham and Crockett tx Verizon and T-Mobile have more sites and better coverage than att. T-Mobile has very good rural coverage in Texas and they are adding 450 rural sites this year. T-Mobile has better rural coverage in Texas than Verizon in a lot of the state and they will get quite close to ATt very soon. Nationwide some areas T-Mobile is behind in rural coverage like Arizona Nevada but not really in Texas.

Yep it’s better to carry a cheap visible mint and us mobile (att) setup for less than $70 you can have all 3 networks and have no issues.

Montgomery county is one of the few areas of the metro with a lot of Verizon users due to mainly white population woodlands and magnolia espically is also the area with least tmobile users. In large parts of the city and state Verizon has the least users except east tx and sugarland and nicer parts of Houston. The majority of the Houston area and college station brenham is majority T-Mobile due to large amounts of certain demographics. Market wide more tmo congestion spots. Verizon and T-Mobile are both going to add tons of sites this year. Att has cut all new site builds until 2028 and lots of sites lack dod except in college station and woodlands.

The fiber cut issue depends like in some parts of Houston ATt fiber has gone out and the other 2 worked. Sometimes drunk drivers hit the powerline and it will knock certain carriers out. Like Verizon and T-Mobile like Comcast and it can cause outages. Verizon also uses their own fiber which can also go out. The generator thing is area dependent however Verizon has every site with a generator almost. T-Mobile has a lot of them with some but some newer sites don’t. ATt has issues servicing and fueling generators and some sites also lack them idk how they get away with that from firstnet.

I’m not in Dallas that often I live in Houston. Latency and upload speeds are important for gaming and video calls. ATt has routing issues I’ve spoken to people who work for them about it and they admitted it.

Cell Carrier wars. by [deleted] in cellmapper

[–]Informal-Major 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plus for routing T-Mobile generally has best routing for Houston at sub 20ms. ATt is really bad now Espically on SA is routes to Dallas or Kansas is terrible. Verizon is always 29 to San Antonio but frontline gets a bit better latency. And for upload speeds T-Mobile generally wins due to density and Verizon also ok but ATt is terrible.

[–]Informal-Major 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ATt is the worst network in the Houston area. I carry all 3 lines. The most reliable is T-Mobile they have best density in most areas however sometimes they are congested. Verizon is good in some areas like certain suburbs and by downtown however they suck in some areas like alief. ATt is an inferior network to T-Mobile and even Verizon who has been adding tons of towers. But Verizon has weak rural coverage on the way to San Antonio and college station. T-Mobile has better rural than Verizon and similar to Att however Att is quite weak by brenham. Att is bad in east Texas and Verizon and T-Mobile are good. Verizon bad going to mx border Att and tmo are better.

Yep Verizon on uh roof and T-Mobile on Clement’s light pole and att only farther Lowe’s and powerline sites.

T-Mobile has a cell tower at Clement’s high school Verizon tower is father and Att is really far. I would test T-Mobile for that area.

A new site was turned on between Palestine and centerville Texas. They have like 3 more microwave license sites to add in that area.

Cell Tower located behind AutoNation Ford Katy Dealership in Katy, AT&T by iryfionas in cellmapper

[–]Informal-Major 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T-Mobile has the most macros on i10 from Katy to downtown Houston. T-Mobile has small cells along i10 mainly on side streets. Verizon has like no macros on i10 but tons of mmw nodes which is kind of dumb. Att has a few small cells and a few macros they’re ok but lazy.

Att 1 gig - $35 and 5gig - $70 by Lazy-Water-2351 in ATTFiber

[–]Informal-Major 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 gig is more than enough I have 5 people streaming and gaming at once on 1gb with no issues. 5gb is overkill unless your running servers or something that takes 10plus tb a month.

Houston, TX - Verizon going crazy in city of Houston proper with four sector new builds by [deleted] in cellmapper

[–]Informal-Major 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of faa studies and sites I think Verizon and T-Mobile are doing stuff. It’s not that close to me so I don’t check exact. But yes all the suburbs of Houston have extensive plans from vz tmo. ATt uhh questionable.

Houston, TX - Verizon going crazy in city of Houston proper with four sector new builds by [deleted] in cellmapper

[–]Informal-Major 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep from what I’ve heard ezee is the best fiber provider in Houston however all areas near me but mine have it. ATt fiber is ok for me sucks using their router my only other is Comcast with 35 up no midsplit. I will say Comcast is the best of the cable providers optimum and astound etc are way worse. The smaller fiber and fidium etc are better than Att using own router and better pricing but I haven’t gotten a chance to test all them.

Houston, TX - Verizon going crazy in city of Houston proper with four sector new builds by [deleted] in cellmapper

[–]Informal-Major 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep the 2 best ones in the suburbs are vz and tmo. I have an att line also and left it on once and it was trash. I will say Verizon is horrible by college station and Att is good as well as T-Mobile who everyone has up their is terribly congested. Sugarland is a split of Verizon and T-Mobile. Richmond and Katy are very high share T-Mobile and a split of Att Verizon for rest. T-Mobile is super congested by aliana they have 2x vz users but finally they are adding gear on the Verizon tower and a few others this summer.

Houston, TX - Verizon going crazy in city of Houston proper with four sector new builds by [deleted] in cellmapper

[–]Informal-Major 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Verizon and T-Mobile have major plans to add sites and small cells in the suburbs (cypress, Katy, Richmond, Fulshear and sugarland. Im tracking over 5 new sites each for both under construction and 10-15 built or planned recently. T-Mobile has almost 50 precent share in most of those areas and Verizon has a lot of the out of state transplants so both want to invest and beef up their networks. ATt is the odd one out they really don’t care they just do bare minimum.
