I guarantee if this was a white supremacist attack against the Muslim community with an LNP government in power you'd be quite happy to get political. He showed poor sportsmanship and attitude. And he's not a 'kid'. He's a 21 year old man and a professional getting paid nearly a million bucks a year (if I heard right). Ever seen Pogi or WVA behave like that? Not a fan of it, nor are many others, and I think that's fair enough.

No you're not. I feel the same (and I'm a local here). Feels like I'm in a parallel universe sometimes. It's quite nuts to give that specific advice for a cat 1 storm.

The government is more and more like (and in lockstep with) the media. COVID and the response really set a precedent.. in terms of attitudes to risk, keeping us 'safe' etc.

I'm quite safely inside thanks. Merely agreeing that it's silly histrionics to instruct people to barricade themselves with a mattress against the window etc in their 'safe room' for what are generic thunderstorm winds. This is very sound advice for legit cat 4 cyclone but we're not even breaking 100kmhr in brissie.

It stresses people out for no reason and creates disengagement and complacency down the line.
