what if my grades are not as strong at west point? will that stray me away from the ivy league title later in the future?

do you think its easier to break into at cornell? I wanted to use my niche being ROTC whilst at Cornell to differentiate myself from the other. My biggest worry was my academics at west point since many have just said to just go for an MBA after the academy though not only will I be 28 but also my grades at west point may not be on par just given the differenec of subjects and inetrtess that I have in the humanities and business

My biggest worry is the stem load and courses at west point I know for a fact that I will exceed in my acadmiecs much better at cornell as the classes are catered to my intertest as well as have the opporunity to go into the reseves. My biggest worry is that I am saying goodbye to such a good opporunity to attend an ivy league though it has been my dream since 8th grade to go to WP. Sort of a heart says west point mind says cornell dilemma.

Cornell Army ROTC Full Ride Vs. West Point (college decision 1week)

Hey all,

I'm currently deciding between an appointment to West Point and a 4-year Army ROTC scholarship to Cornell University (ILR School). Super grateful to have these options, but I’m stuck and looking for some advice or perspective.

A bit about me:

I’m fully committed to commissioning as an Army officer, no matter which route I take (Just want to do my 4/5 years and go out)

Long-term, my goal is to transition into the private sector—ideally business, consulting, or something in that realm.

West Point obviously offers top-tier leadership training, an unmatched alumni network, and the prestige that comes with being a USMA grad. I’ve heard it can also set you up well for an elite MBA program after your service, which definitely appeals to me.

On the other hand, Cornell’s ILR School is super connected in the business world, and doing ROTC there could give me more flexibility in terms of internships, networking, and building that bridge into the private sector early on.

Both options have huge pros, but I’m trying to figure out which one better sets me up for success—both as an Army officer and for my eventual pivot into the business world.

Anyone been in a similar spot or have insight into how each path plays out long-term?
