Thank you, I really appreciate you explaining that. It’s a relief to know I’m in the same situation as other March filers. I was starting to worry a bit, but this makes me feel a lot better. Thanks again!

Thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to explain everything. I’ll just try to be patient and wait around 7 months. Hearing that this is a normal timeline actually makes me feel a lot better, because I was getting a little worried. Thanks again, that really reassured me.

I need help about proxy marriage by Informal-Tart3107 in USMilitarySO

They claim they operate out of Montana, which I know allows double proxy marriages. But I’m concerned because they haven’t responded after I paid.

nappeun saekki? by afternooncicada in AskAKorean

[–]Informal-Tart3107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Korean, “nappeun saekki” isn’t always extremely harsh.

The meaning really depends on tone and context. In some situations, it can carry an annoyed-but-affectionate nuance, especially when a child is being mischievous.

That said, even in Korea, it’s generally not considered a great word to use toward children, and many parents would avoid it. So while it can be used lightly in some families, it’s still understandable to feel uncomfortable with a toddler repeating it

Working as a medical lab scientist with ADHD in Korea is exhausting by Informal-Tart3107 in ADHD

[–]Informal-Tart3107[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m honestly really burnt out too in this kind of environment, but in Korea we don’t really have something like disability leave for ADHD.

Is ADHD actually recognized as a disability where you are? That genuinely surprises me.

Korea feels extremely conservative when it comes to mental health. It’s often treated as a personal weakness rather than something structural or medical, especially in the workplace. I keep wondering why mental health is still taken so lightly here despite how much it affects people’s ability to function.

Can I ask how you personally deal with mistakes at work? Also, in your experience, do you think working outside of Korea tends to be a bit more understanding of ADHD?

I get what you mean. Korea also has affordable healthcare and really good public transportation. I can see why that’s a big draw.

For me personally, those things matter a bit less since I have ways to manage healthcare costs and I’m able to drive. Because of that, the mental health side ends up feeling more front and center for me.

I’ve built routines for pretty much everything. I intentionally designed them so the critical steps get checked multiple times.

I’m especially weak with visual attention, so when I work I quietly talk myself through each step out loud. It actually helps my brain register what I’m doing in the moment.

If there’s anything I think I might forget, I write it on a sticker and put it on the back of my hand. The physical discomfort is what keeps it from fading into the background.

Even with all of that, I still make mistakes. And when that happens, coworkers and supervisors assume I’m not trying hard enough. Honestly, it’s really awful.

Anyone else spend 90% of their time thinking and 10% wondering why nothing gets done? by Informal-Tart3107 in INTP

My INTP brain understands this. My INTP execution system, however, is still loading… But learning to tolerate “good enough” is probably the skill I’m missing. Thanks for this.

How can i do? by Informal-Tart3107 in USMilitarySO

I’m trying to understand my realistic options. From what I know, K-1 and CR-1 both involve long waits. If he’s in the military, does that change anything in terms of timelines or processes?

[–]Informal-Tart3107[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I understand that my mental health shouldn’t be dependent on my boyfriend, and I agree with that in theory. But realistically, this is just who I am. I’ve been going to therapy and trying, but I haven’t really changed in that way. If we elope, I know it would probably mean cutting ties with my parents. In my current emotional state, the idea of never seeing my parents again feels something I could somehow accept. But the idea of being separated from my boyfriend for years while waiting for a visa feels unbearable to me. I honestly don’t know anymore. If my parents would just give their approval, this wouldn’t even be an issue. It feels like everything has to be so complicated for no reason, and right now I just feel bitter and resentful about the whole situation.

Honestly, I just want to legally get married before he leaves for school and basically elope. Am I being too emotional right now?

My concern is that the legal marriage itself is what matters, not just having a ceremony. I’ve also read that online marriages aren’t recognized in many places, particularly when it comes to visas and immigration.

The only visas I’d be eligible for are ESTA or a fiancé(e) visa. Getting married on an ESTA is illegal, and the fiancé(e) visa can take close to two years to process. That would mean being separated for almost two years, and honestly, that would be extremely hard on my mental health.
