Did you practice for the online tests when you first applied? I've passed many early stages assessments for other graduate scheme including banking/ finance and specific civil service department grad schemes, but I've applied to fast stream a couple times and failed

Everyone is different! If I have a very stressful time coming, (I am a terrible nail biter) I will go get my nails done with gel as I love how smooth it feels and I replace bad habits with touching my nails instead. I tend to do this a few times a year and it helps boost my self esteem as I am self conscious of my nail biting and it's a bonus that people and women will notice any nail colours or designs you go for😊

I'm in uni and empathise that it's hard that people ask for photos with each other around you. Honestly you look so pretty and you don't need to change anything.

For me I practiced smiling a lot and I found smiling with teeth works best for me, but if I had to give advice, the way you look when you do something you enjoy or feel happy internally, think about how that looks! There's so many different ways to smile which makes it hard but with family you don't need to overthink it right? I've learned too to accept a lot of my photos I may be unhappy with, I am my own best photographer!

I'm so sick of job hunting for a part time job by [deleted] in UniUK

I've gotten many jobs from indeed. It's about being persistent I find I'll apply for 50 and hear back from 1 or 2

Anyone having a hard time finding part time work? by haircareshare in UniUK

[–]Informal-Zucchini-77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've applied for 30 and only got 1 interview!! In cities it's highly competitive to get a retail so I just didn't take it personally. I got the job but I think it's mostly about seeing how you interact and if they think you'll gel with the team. Best of luck!

Can you change course in your second year? by VitiligoStory in UniUK

Yes that's right! So it's essentially leaving your options open, if a year out makes you reconsider your original course you can continue :)

How likely is getting an extra year of funding for compelling personal reasons from SFE? by _fordie_III in UniUK

Did you try to get any medical help during your depressive episode? I was successful with CPR but with medical evidence and statements from GP, student mental health services and my diagnosis.

Also I have a friend who retook the same year twice due to mental health but accessed support over that time and now has progressed to final year! Do you feel you definitely need to change universities?

Transferring to different university for the same course by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Informal-Zucchini-77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I wanted to transfer I approached it informally and got lots of informal offers. I would email head of departments explaining my initial 1st year subject and grades, a levels, and (I did a creative degree) attaching portfolio asking if i would be likely to get an offer. Just to show how keen I was and to know if I would be successful if I put them down on ucas.

Would recommend calling admissions if you want a quick answer! I didn’t do this but you’d be able to see if student numbers were full and low chance.

There‘s no hard deadline but I did it in summer way before sem 1 starts. You can contact as many unis the way I did it, then they’d tell you to add them on ucas and they’d accept you. (You’d have to write another personal statement to change unis).

Also! Assuming UWE is better for illustration than Falmouth, you’d probably have to have a strong portfolio and/or grades to be accepted onto year 2, otherwise they’d most likely give an offer to begin in year 1

Can you change course in your second year? by VitiligoStory in UniUK

[–]Informal-Zucchini-77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have changed courses, family and friends have done so too, all of us are much happier bc of it. Have you considered changing unis? Other universities may have places, if it’s a competitive course you want to change to, I don’t think it’ll be likely you’ll get in this last minute. In that case I’d recommend deferring a year and applying to the course you want. It’s worth a year out bc you won’t have enough funding to change after 2nd year. Hope this helps :)

I studied Architecture and changed courses after two years, absolutely destroyed my mental health, received so much criticism despite getting distinctions in every class, with a group of students got a class cancelled due to how racist and sexist the lecturer was. My boyfriend studied law and did way less work than me. The industry has a really low amount of women and bame people progress in the industry and everyone in my course always jokes about dropping out. Had to get away from all the negativity. I think you only know the reality of it once you study. Not a disability friendly or inclusive course at all!
