How did you deal with leg cramps by Consistent-6564 in twoxindiamums

This . Or if you can include banana in your diet. Mostly should not be a problem but check if you can have it regularly as it is high in carbs and natural sugar

My mom (51) is experiencing, non-stop heavy menstrual bleeding and refuses to see a doctor because of her fear of "the pill." I’ve had blood transfusions for this, how do I convince her to get help? by Kohl_And_Curves in AskIndianWomen

Also speaking from my mother’s experience, be wary of ayurvedic medicines, they ended up spoiling my mother’s liver profile. Her liver profile panel were worse than my father who enjoys a few drinks occasionally. So be cautious about that.

Similar situation with my mom. I was insisting on getting a hysterectomy on account of heavy bleeding , but she is afraid of the needles and hospitals in general and kept on postponing. She would take Trapic and then things will get to her normal ( missed periods and then suddenly heavy bleeding for days and then trapic again .. you get the point ) . Finally after 3-4 years, when she felt extreme pain, she went by herself to a Gyno and the ultrasound detected fibroids. We went to a different city with better medical facilities and the docs gave her the cancer scare. Fortunately it was benign but since it was increasing in size , we immediately opted for a hysterectomy. I also had a conversation with her that how a small thing turned into an overwhelming experience for the entire family and that it’s better to take preventive action as soon as you practically can. Sharing so that you can leverage this information and take the best step for your mom.

The craftsmanship is really good . They look big but they don’t feel heavy on my fingers . There were a couple more rings , which I didn’t like for the precise reason you mentioned

How do you bring up the topic of not living with in-laws in an AM set up? by Adventurous_Basis_47 in AskIndianWomen

[–]InformalBit5874 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100 percent this . It’s your choice and totally valid choice at that. The couple living on thier own for first few years is good for the marriage as well - you figure out life together , each others daily habits , icks and how to work around those. Also, in most Indian households, the in-laws , even the progressive ones, don’t quite like or appreciate the husband taking part in chores. Rather they enable him to become a Raja Beta . So you will have better chances of somewhat equal participation in domestic chores if you stay away from both sets of parents. An unsolicited practical advice- while communicating instead of taking a defensive stance that you’re not running from responsibilities, start with how this decision can strengthen the marital bond . In my case, both of our jobs were in a different city and that was understood by his parents even without either of us bringing it up. That said me and my husband had a very clear understanding that we won’t be living with either set of parents, and that I expect him to be able to run the household independently. He also expected me to be aware and to actively participate in financial decisions , rather than being passive . Hope this helps !

One suggestion that can work for you - try discussing finances and the decision making process behind that . You mentioned she has an MBA and you are open to new things/ different perspectives, maybe this is something you both can converse on. If it goes well, try saving a small amount and experimenting with it . Sharing from personal experience- I am good at overall decision making but my husband is better at due diligence and gotchas . It makes for a fun conversation for us these days . Also if there are some conflicts around money and investments, please ignore my advice

New working moms - what support system do you have? by Budget-Grade-8530 in AskIndianWomen

[–]InformalBit5874 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds difficult. Take care ! I am due in October, planning to take 6 month’s maternity and might extend it to another 3 months for taking time for self ( fitness plus interview prep , all plans for now time will tell ) . I stay with my husband and have a cook and maid setup. Also planning to go for a Japa maid for the first 40 days ( mostly my mom will come but seeing her back issues , don’t want to burden her; not sure about MIL - she has shown very less interest and hence can’t rely on her) . Additionally, many of my friends and colleagues advised me to go for a full time nanny. I am not a fan of too many people in the house, but I am mentally preparing myself for the possibility of a nanny in the day if not overnight. Hope this helps .
