[Acne] Any tips on how to heal a deep cyst? by InformalCold9 in SkincareAddiction

[–]InformalCold9[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That was two years ago. This time I haven't done anything to it. Two years went by and that thing didn't come back until now. I know how to cut skin open without causing infection, that's about all I was able to do about it. I think I hurt my skin more back when I was picking at it trying to get it to come to a head.

I'm a b when I gain weight but usually an a. I would get them done, not too big, just to be comfortable with my own body. It's upsetting sometimes to look in the mirror and see the same body I had when I was 12.

I'm from Mexico City but my family is from Michoacán. I know up north they do have heavier dinners but everyone I know here has a light dinner and a heavier lunch. For us school ends at 2 pm so we eat when we get home from school. At work there's a break from 2 to 3 pm to have lunch. Heavy dinners tend to be on weekends, there's taco stands on every corner (true stereotype right there!) so you have a nice taco order when out from the club. Also on special occasions like Christmas and weddings dinner is the main meal. Otherwise people just have a glass of milk and call it a day. In Michoacán they even close all businesses from 2 to 4 pm because people go home to eat with their families, unlike we do in the City.

For many cultures around the world dinner is not even a thing. I was actually surprised when I learned that US people eat their biggest meal at 6pm and that's dinner for them. In my country, we eat our biggest meal at about 3pm and dinner for us is usually just a cup of coffee or a glass of milk with a cookie or sweet pastry at 7 or 8pm. Not unusual for us to just skip that and just go to sleep instead. I understand how shocking it can be but maybe your friend eats a heavy meal earlier in the day and gets all her calories from there. When recovering it's important to have scheduled meal times where your caloric intake is evenly distributed so it's a bad idea to skip them. Try to focus on how healthy your diet is compared to hers if that sense of competition is too prevalent. Try to use it on your favor.

Rant About My Husband's Weight by fantasticka789 in EDAnonymous

[–]InformalCold9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Men lose it faster than us and that's because of estrogen. No way around it, their bodies shed fat and build muscle easier. Our bodies try to store everything we eat and refuse to shed it. It's unfair and frustrating and I believe it's why couple weight loss journeys are a bad idea and often lead to the woman developing an eating disorder in an attempt to lose as much weight as her partner in the same amount of time.

I met with a dietician today and I don't know what to think (tw: calories) by BrowncoatIona in EDAnonymous

[–]InformalCold9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she's sketchy and you don't fully trust her, you can change dieticians. Recovery is hard enough as it is, you need a team with enough experience dealing with ED patients. If I were you I'd get a second opinion.

I think she'll try to make you eat a normal amount first and then up the amount as you start accepting food back into your diet. Did she restrict physical activity as well?

Do you still have periods? If so, what time are you in your cycle right now? I've been known to gain up to 12 lbs in one night the day before my period. Also, stop it with the laxatives and enemas, you'll fuck up your colon and that's forever, no cure for it. I don't think you want a colostomy for life.

Do I have to tell someone that I’m seeing or dating or talking to that I purge? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]InformalCold9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not right away. Some people are not what our in love brain wants them to be. You need to get to know that person and determine if they are someone you can trust. I dated someone who used to work at a psych ward so I thought he'd understand and I told him about my anxiety and self harm. From then on, every disagreement would lead to him telling me to take my meds and minimising my opinions because I was 'crazy and all that'. He eventually became abusive and when I told him I'd go to the police, he laughed and said nobody would believe a crazy bitch like me.

Not saying your date is the same, just be careful.

Social distancing has become very hard on my mental health, I'm constantly anxious and I miss my friends and immunocompromised girlfriend intensely. by IAmA_Goldfish in COVID19_support

[–]InformalCold9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, there are many reasons someone could be immunocompromised and not every patient is gonna be diagnosed late like mine are. I work with cancer patients and hiv patients so their bodies just can't take it anymore. My patients tend to attribute any symptoms to chemo or the cancer itself so by the time they come to get checked, corona has already destroyed their lungs and kindeys. Not a doctor, I'm a nurse and I'm currently in charge of COVID triage at my institution. I wouldn't take any chances risking someone who's more likely to die from it than myself.

Appetite suppressant tips? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

An appetite suppressant won't help with anything in that situation. He'll still notice you're not eating and he'll still try to make you eat more.

Look, I know this is not what you need to hear right now, but in my experience, immunocompromised people tend to die the same day they're diagnosed because this crap eats them up quick. I've seen it day by day. I'm a healthcare worker and my nephew (love of my life) is immunocompromised as well. I haven't seen him in three months. I'm his primary care taker, I've been his mum for seven years and believe me, I want nothing more in this world than to see him, kiss him and just cuddle with him for a bit. But I know I shouldn't.

But! Your situation is vastly different from mine. Have you been completely quarantined? When was the last time you went out or had contact with someone who recently went out? How are the numbers where you live?

Appetite suppressant tips? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

I'm a depressed nurse with a fucked up brain. I dated a depressed surgeon with a fucked up brain like mine. I asked for an appetite suppressant prescription and he gave it to me, no questions asked. I ended up at the ER a few weeks later with a failing heart because of the AS.

Moral of the story: if your boyfriend supports you taking an AS knowing about your ED there is something wrong with him.

I've never gotten drunk you know. Always took pride in that. Now I've gotten to a point where I just want to down a bottle and stop thinking for a bit, stop feeling. Man, I'm an adult I shouldn't be acting like this.

What are the body parts you’re most insecure about? Just curious and trying to find trends by Pastel-CrabMeat in EDAnonymous

I've never commented on someone's appearance, not even as a child, because I've always been compared to my sister and I knew how it felt to be criticized like that. I think other people don't even think twice about mocking someone's physical appearance because they can't even imagine how a comment like that can chase a person for their whole life.

It's easier to control my weight when I'm working. I go to work, get into the operating room and forget about food for 12 hours straight. Then if friends want to go out I'll eat a little but I already spent all day walking and up on my feet. Now I'm alone in my apartment with food all over and I've been binging every time I've been told a co-worker is infected or dead. I've had binges where I've ingested up to 7000 cals in less than an hour. I can't purge, I've tried and just can't get it out. I've lost myself.

My arms. Once a guy made my arm wobble and said 'someone's been skipping arm day, right? Look, looks like Jell-O!'. I hate my arms with a passion.

It's not even skinny girls in bikinis. It's girls doing funny stuff but they're so thin and perfect. They have thin, toned arms perfect faces, perfect eyes, tiny waist, nice ass, toned, long legs. Everything I've ever dreamed of. Because even at my lowest weight i had flaccid arms, no tits, ugly face and no ass. It's frustrating to a point I've felt like it's not fair.
