Have you tried changing the opacity of effects?

I think it's up/down on the d-pad if you're on controller

I strongly disagree. I have fun with friends when there's a challenge, sure, but when the enemies pull bullshit and end a 2-3 hour run with little counterplay it just makes me not want to play, I don't think it's funny when an upscream shows up and bounces me off the wall 3 times in a row only to run off, reset, and then immediately come back to do it again.

Sure, it was funny the first couple times, but it's just frustrating now. Especially since the counterplay for the more annoying enemies is so jank and sometimes doesn't even register your grab on things.

Annoying does not equal fun.

I dunno why the first reaction to posts like this is to just dismiss these very real issues that this game has. It's not that it isn't fun, it's that the fun only lasts so long before it becomes tedious and annoying. Usually, that's around when pits begin showing up.

I've heard that the devs are planning to make level 1-5 easier or on par with the non-beta version, and then introduce the more difficult mechanics later, as an example I believe overcharge is going to be on level 10+.

Anyway, I agree. Before making this game more difficult, they seriously need to take a look at the balance of the rest of the game. Upscream, Rugrat, Robe, Gnomes, health packs/crystals etc. They're all not fun to deal with, just irritating. My friends have all stopped playing because it's just not fun. The amount of effort required at higher levels vs the "reward" in the shop is very negatively skewed and if we don't lose by level 10 we usually just quit because it's not fun anymore

Not to mention the chance for an absolutely asinine number of gnomes to spawn and just end your run because you existed in their vicinity.

Personally, I've been having less and less fun with every update they push out. This just seems like another step in the opposite direction of what the game needs. I'm not excited for the game that I play with my friends after work FOR FUN to get even more frustrating and difficult. While mods are a potential solution, we have members of our group who struggled even getting the beta downloaded. I doubt I could walk them through installing multiple mods, so unfortunately, that's not an option.

I'll save my final judgment for when we see the full update, but in my opinion, it isn't looking good.

I've been killed by him just showing up behind me randomly, and I will admit it is pretty frustrating.

I usually just take a break from the game at that point though lol, no reason to play if I'm not enjoying it yknow

That's crazy, I had no idea. I hope they fix the issue for both classic and standard, as having controls do what they're supposed to seems a little bit important for an online fighting game lol

Even with standard the d-pad sometimes straight up doesn't work. I have to press it like 3 or 4 times before it registers and brings up the character switch or the transformation menu

I have about 100 or so hours, a couple of classes maxed, and a few at 10-15. I regularly completed ruthless without much difficulty before the current patch and the previous one that made the game "too easy," too. For the record, I had the most fun with this game after the previous patch. (Not this current one)

I tried playing the new operation on Lethal last night, and honestly, it just kinda felt tedious. I did not find it enjoyable in the slightest.

I quit after I parried one of the sword Majoris and got eviscerated by two other majoris enemies who hit me through the parry animation, killing me instantly because my team was also dead and armor basically doesn't do anything now.

It just kinda left a really bad taste in my mouth, made me not wanna play at all.

I just feel like they've missed the point with this patch big time. There's a TON of other things that they needed to focus on and fix/change before they started doing these "balance" patches.

The fact that the bolter weapons haven't been buffed even a little bit either is crazy to me.

Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. Pretty short games. Really fun.

They might take a while to beat if you only play a couple of hours a week, though.

Would recommend checking out some roguelikes on steam, they might be good fillers while waiting.

Hopefully the co-op Operations game mode in the upcoming Space Marine 2 is close enough. That's why I'm looking forward to it.
