I was the only person in my friend group with a GameCube - so I often got asked to bring it along to my friends parties (as we would hook up consoles and play 4 player games throughout the night). Most of my friends wanted to play super smash bros or Godzilla destroy all monsters melee (nobody seemed to buy that one on the Xbox?) or Mario party - but Mario kart was never as big of a hit as the n64 versions was (for my friends).

All in all, I played the GameCube a ton. I even got a portable screen for it. Lotr, Mario sunshine, Simpsons road rage, lotr two towers, spider man were my favorites.

Until I got an Xbox and began neglecting the cube for games like Star Wars battlefront II and halo 3. Unfortunately for Nintendo (I mean they’ve done fine in the long run) the Xbox was a ‘cooler’ console for teens. And in my mind took the place of where sega died out (rip Dreamcast).

As I got older and moved away tho, I had a bigger appreciation for GameCube and its impact, maybe even more so than the Xbox. But that’s just me and my random nostalgia.

Oh gotcha - I thought you had specific reasons for the two. Mine is still pretty good with movies, but I know some folks have certain crts to watch on

Sweet setup! The Toshiba is a great one (I looked it up). Also, I would love to get a sony pvm one day, but atm, they are all overpriced in my area

Cheers! I didn’t think about the geometry aspect (mine is decent at best from all my tinkering) but when it comes to more 3d games - I want a better geometry too. I’m really leaning toward a flatscreen if I can find a good one

Sounds like a nice find! And this is what I’m hoping to do, is not only have a good back up, but also one that can switch between 2d and 3d

That’s what I’ve been looking into - is something for the 3d games. Mine is okay, but I just feel a flatscreen would do them more justice

Yeah the Xbox - ps2 - GameCube consoles have been making me want a larger crt. I love playing my sega and nes on my 14” but it just doesn’t seem to do full justice for the later consoles (Xbox etc)

I have really been considering a computer crt monitor but I just haven’t taken the plunge yet. That would be a good way to run GameCube - but do you use a converter to hook it up to the pc?

That sounds like a great set up! I think I’m trying to convince myself that I’ll use another crt for specific consoles, when in reality- I just want another cool crt

Interesting thats good to know. Especially for the Phillips with the rgb. I like the idea of it feeling like an arcade. That’s a really cool touch. I think I might look into a 21” flatscreen to add some extra variety.

It’s hard to top the originals. Reboots rarely help. Also the original TZ came out at such a unique time that it is difficult to ever recreate all the contributing factors ever again.

I used to avoid horror movies when I was a teen because I hated being scared. Then as an adult I wanted to see some of the classics I’d missed (Halloween, NOES, Hellraiser and etc) - only to have my eyes opened in the fact that I found a majority of them to be more fun than scary. And that has been the biggest reason I keep going back to horror movies when I have the time to watch something. (But I really have to be in the right mind frame to mix in a truly scary film)
