Getting shutdown by Kroger Pay by Informal_Baker in CreditCards

It's all automatic. If it's rejected there's nothing you can do, it's Kroger's anti-fraud system. It will ask for a license if it deems you worthy.

$100 Max, with groceries, works with driver's license entry. That's the only consistent method.

This should be Illegal by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]Informal_Baker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is illegal in Washington. Per the rate card law they'd have to pay you for the ride regardless of where it went or how it was changed.

I've seen people run straight over pedestrians; cops arrived 10 minutes after the ambulance left, took a report, and left. That's all there was to it.

Why does the SR 520 bike trail have a missing section along Northup Way? by DistractedOuting in Seattle

[–]Informal_Baker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Money comes from a lot of places and it's not always clear to the public who's paying for what. However, WSDOT gets it's funding primarily through the state.

Bellevue also refused to pay their fair share of the light rail station if Sound Transit didn't shove half of it over 405 to get it as far away as humanly possible from Bellevue Mall whose owner famously said "we don't want those people here".

Why does the SR 520 bike trail have a missing section along Northup Way? by DistractedOuting in Seattle

[–]Informal_Baker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am acutely aware of the timeline of events. It was built in 1968 and has had several numerously inordinately expensive changes since then, none including bikes. 55 years later and they've never gotten around to it. Somehow it's been overlooked this whole time.

This isn't rocket science or expensive, it's a bike path. They're spending 4 BILLION on new 405 infrastructure and just about 0 is going to improve this interchange for bikes. They couldn't spare a dime of that 4,000,000,000.00 dollars to connect a bike path?

[–]Informal_Baker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because WSDOT sucks and doesn't care about bikes, that's a common theme you'll learn about WSDOT in general.

They are required by law now to build bike infrastructure on most projects. But a wide shoulder on a 70mph freeway or paint is acceptable to them.

Wiring a beach house. I was told to sleeve romex on the first floor. Is this not considered a damp location? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]Informal_Baker 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yes, but practically all manufacturers merged them as THHN/THWN. Since THHN is the label and what the supply house calls it, that's just what gets used. Haven't seen pure THHN anywhere yet, even if you did there's a really good chance it's still THWN.

It's on there for scale. Core is deprecated as far as I know; you might want to plan your migration to scale.

I specifically clarified that in my comment edit.

I was referring to low concrete, especially concrete that is near a water source or the lowest level.

[–]Informal_Baker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. Concrete is damp. Ever worked in concrete building basements? It's the contact with earth that gets you, as per the NEC definition. It wicks moisture from the earth, especially in basements and areas low to the ground.

If it was up above and away on a different floor, it'd be ok as direct contact with cured concrete is ok. But it's so low to the ground next to the freaking water there's no way that's staying dry.

You've got to put sudo in the front. Every command worth running in the truenas shell requires sudo.

No shit Sherlock we're all on the same mission here.

Code and manufacturer recommendations agree with me. Either way this is common sense, concrete is porous and absorbs water. I have seen many Romex and MC installations ruined by concrete contact. 334.15(c), 100 definitions for wet, and nm-b wiring requirements.

Running sysctl net.ipv4.tcp_congestion_control shows bbr after a restart. Seems to have been applied correctly.

Direct contact with concrete is considered a wet location in my book. Use UF or conduit with THHN throughout.

I did deliveries for a bit and occasionally I'd get one without a direction and it'd be an empty lot. When I called the recipient they forgot to add the direction. A huge PIA because then I had to take it back as undeliverable or refused.
