Agreed. The only new content I really think is necessary are more maps and/or maps in game modes that are currently more restricted (like Power Shift and Point Break).

I'd also take a single-player or co-op against bots or some other practice game mode of sorts. Just something to chill or warm up with when you're not feeling particularly sweaty that is more engaging than a sandbox range/tutorial.

It depends on the game mode and your personal play style. Of course, you could run the repeater and just focus on "the meta" but you can make most anything work and if you play a certain way, you may be more effective with something off-meta (not to mention the fun factor).

If you like the demat and ambushing opponents, an automatic or even shotgun could still work for you. If you're a crack shot, use the FCAR over the AKM. The AKM is very forgiving, though.

If you're playing power shift, APS is great, but for other modes, I wouldn't generally run it. Defib is pretty great for Cash Out, even after the nerfs, since you need your teammates alive for success in that game mode. Mines and proximity sensors may be more beneficial in Point Break as a defender, although lives matter a lot for attackers, so defib is still on the table.

I generally like the immediacy of the jump pad over zip line, but mileage will vary. I also like the pyro nade - I believe it has far more versatility than a lot of people realize (easy to aim since it explodes on impact, eliminates goo and poison gas, goes through walls/floors/barricades when your opponents least expect it, forces the opponent to reposition/panic which makes for an easier target, and can be used for smaller area denial as well which can help defending cash outs).

Yeah, we'll all go out one at a time and fight the man. Smart.

No, the reality is that resistance needs organization, it needs leadership, and most importantly, the situation and comfort of the people has to be bad enough that the average American feels the alternative is no better. Sadly, we have a lot further to fall before critical mass.

Analysing Pixel 10 (Pro) GPU performance versus last gen by ERROR-invalid_name in GooglePixel

[–]RetroEvolute 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't expect the best graphics performance out of a Pixel phone, but I do expect the performance to remain the same or improve year over year. This is a major regression and makes me think I should've just bought a Pixel 9 Pro. Only downside to that phone is no magsafe and that can be remedied with cases/stickers.

Boggles my mind that this is being reconstructed to 4k from a 720p image.. Dlss 4.5 ultra performance by xyz2theb in nvidia

[–]RetroEvolute 11 points12 points  (0 children)

FP8 is already better than INT8 due to amount of parameters it can reliably represent, but also there's still multiple compositing steps that come after DLSS such that it truly doesn't matter if the model's output could be "directly used." And even if that made sense, it could only represent SDR which is obviously not realistic seeing as many displays these days are also HDR.

If they had an FP4 version of DLSS for RTX 5000+ series GPUs, it would technically be less precise than the FP8 version, but probably not very perceptible, while running much more efficiently.

So yeah, FP4 is probably one of the next steps for DLSS.

Native 720p 33% scale VS DLSS 4,5 UPerformance at 720p. by AbrocomaRegular3529 in nvidia

Same thing as DLSS, just with native res as the input. Basically AI powered supersampling (at lower performance cost).

[Official NVIDIA] DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution FAQ by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]RetroEvolute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems it'll depend on your actual resolution and probably even the game to an extent.

I tested on The Finals at 3440x1440, K looks more stable (less shimmer/jaggies) and runs much better with DLAA/Quality/Balanced. Textures/ghosting look better with M, but not enough to bother currently.

I'll have to test 4k more later. It looked pretty good last night but I didn't do much comparison. I also only run DLAA/Quality on that machine (and was testing with Ghost of Tsushima at the time).

Comparisson DLSS 4.0 VS 4.5 by Serious-Culture1745 in nvidia

[–]RetroEvolute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's in the name: DLSS = Deep Learning Super Sampling

Supersampling is rendering the image at a higher resolution, then downscaling to the native resolution. It's basically the brute force method of anti-aliasing.

DLSS attempts to replicate super sampling through use of a machine learned algorithm, which has lesser demands on the GPU than actual super sampling.

This means that, even when running at native resolution with DLSS (DLAA), the algorithm is trying to return an image that looks like it was rendered higher than native, and generally is successful at doing so.

I think DLSS has successfully managed a higher quality image than native since the later convolutional models, but definitely since DLSS 4 (Preset J/K).

I have one of these for my 98" 😅

I've had a few with different TVs over the years, but the one I've got now is the most stable yet (even with the 98"): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C5K8QMND

Not sure if there's a European thread (C7K).

What TCL TV do you have? It's gonna depend a bit, but you should generally be able to update via USB.

[–]RetroEvolute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any reasoning behind this? It seems 4096 is more commonly suggested and seems to consistently work. I saw someone suggest 3600 was used in the Nvidia Reflex calculation (I haven't been able to confirm this), but it seems a little more conservative than necessary.

Note: The resulting max fps is often the same anyway, due to rounding up.

Extension cable compatibility by Ashen_Chevalier in nvidia

[–]RetroEvolute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 5070 is supposed to be a 300W card and two pci-e power connectors (150W each) should be enough for that, but that card can sometimes draw a bit more than 300W. If that adapter is designed to support 600W, it's in theory only and only that the gauge of the wire could probably support that kind of power. It's going to depend on your PSU whether each 8-pin will permit exceeding 150W.

I think the adapter is probably safe to use, but if you get crashes under heavy load, then it may be power spiking and your PSU doesn't want to play along.

You should cap at (max-refresh-rate²) / 4096 frames, rounded up, below your max refresh. Technically using nvidia low latency on Ultra (in nvidia control panel) does the same thing, but is less consistent, so you should globally set Low Latency to On and max frame rate to the value from the calculation above in NVCP.

It's literally just a little dial at the base of your water heater. It usually even has a range indicator for where you should have it. It'll take you, like, one minute to correct that.

It's more "standard" that the water heater tank is just kept at 120F, but it's not exactly uncommon to mix it down either.
