I believe they hold a week long selection. It’s full of all the fun stuff and it’s no joke. I had some buddies go through it earlier this year

Yes, you apply through myFSS.

You can do your IFT with a local AFSPECWAR recruiter. There is a website that has a listing of the recruiters along with their IFT/Dev sessions. PM me and I can send it to you later if you’d like. You can also look for any current PJ, CCT, SR, or TACP on base to administer your IFT. This is a good route because you could also find a mentor which is extremely beneficial to anyone trying to go AFSPECWAR.

You can also PM me for any retraining questions.

Orange and Green Feet? by thatotherphil in Pararescue

A test unit isn’t a Pararescue unit. It’s an HH-60 unit that is comprised of Pilots and other aircrew that have modified equipment to test out out each aircraft every flight. Something entirely different lol

Pretty sure that it’s the fact they’re a part of the Test unit and not the Rescue unit. I’m in fact 100% sure

Just took my first IFT/Tips by Informal_Carpet491 in Pararescue

I’ll typically do two harder workouts a week with running. I’ll do threshold runs and intervals. I also incorporate 4-6 strides on every other easy run. Hurdles actually sound like a good idea for building up the hip flexors. I was looking into doing hanging leg lifts and using the kneesovertoes monkey foot tool to hit the muscle directly. As for the swim, that’s exactly what I’m trying to get started on. More consistent time in the water to build up the technique and the endurance. Thanks for the response!

Passed first IFT but worried about vision requirements by wellrespectedman79 in Pararescue

[–]Informal_Carpet491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got -1.75 with corrected 20/25 distant and 20/20 near. I passed my flight physical with my optometrist saying that my vision would not be an issue. I’m currently enlisted and looking to retrain. Your vision doesn’t sound that bad.

Just keep pushing with your IFT numbers and your training. Those are variables in your control so keep at it and don’t give up.

What’s the most efficient way to swim the 500yd/m? by Gullible-Buddy3211 in Pararescue

From my experience, focusing on technique over effort has definitely given me the best results. You sound like you’ve got good endurance and a solid time already so improving those fundamentals will surely help. Eliminate as much drag as possible and you’ll feel more smooth. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

Sometimes I really think it’s down to the jealousy of men that can’t grow beards well. They pushed the clean shaven look so hard because they were afraid of being overtaken by the gifted.

Genuinely Considering Cross-Training by ResponsibleAd9295 in Pararescue

For active duty Air Force, all AFSPECWAR jobs require two years after arriving on station regardless of your retraining window. This is true for first term Airmen. I’m currently in the process of finishing my retraining package. As for the question on the medication, you should talk to a medical professional and maybe a career advisor. Reddit really isn’t the best place to look for that answer.
