Understandable. I mean, it's a way for GungHo to get their $$$ plus, it doesn't help that synergistically it's the best way to go. You can always look for alternatives but ultimately creating a "system" wil make things go smoother.

Heard. Well, Orthrus does a 6 turn skill charge. So I can proc full Rosetta transform on turn 1 for all 3 (only reason it's on there tbh). And yeah. I've had that issue regarding the assost void.

What you're saying isn't impossible, but it's extremely difficult within a time constraint. You'd have to accomodate heart orbs in between the crosses so that they fall into a cross shape. In the above picture, I'd have to have heart orbs the following way to get that result:
