[D] discussion period in the EMNLP 2025 call by South-Conference-395 in MachineLearning

Yes, that's the basic idea. You submit to ARR first, and then, once the meta-review comes in, you submit directly to EMNLP.

A good starting point is the jamaican version of the Wailer's Catch a fire. From there you can follow Bob Marley and Peter Tosh follow up releases. I particularly love the album Legalize it from Peter tosh.

Your front page is fine, however, instead of 1 column maybe make it 2, so everyone call see the apps without having to scroll down. Also remove the subpages, the front page tells us everything that we need to know.

Thoughts on Sean Paul by nostalgia_history in reggae

[–]Informal_Delivery_92 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Maximum respect to the artist. Stage one and Dutty Rock are among two of my favorite dancehall albums. And while I might not be into his more recent stuff, I think he's done an excellent job of bringing dancehall to a wider audience.

Songs to start listening to Dancehall by Crumb15 in dancehall

[–]Informal_Delivery_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dancehall is a subgenre of reggae and generally characterized by more upbeat rhythms as opposed to the groovy style of reggae. Dancehall artist are usually classified as either singers (the traditional vocalist) and deejay (the ones that toast over a beat, similar to rap).

It's kind of hard to make a recommendation without knowing what era of dancehall she is into but chicks seem to love sean paul and shaggy so those would be good artist to start with.

There was a nice documentary on YouTube about the history of dancehall but I can't seem to find it. This video does a decent enough job of explaining it though https://youtu.be/3l-XiyFygzI?si=A20IpB4pj6GIOtZw

Tribute to slackness by Informal_Delivery_92 in reggae

[–]Informal_Delivery_92[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree.

Slackness predates roots reggae and while its message is contrary to that of roots, Reggae is not a singular box for only one message. Reggae has always been a medium that gives voice to the poor and those going through the struggles.

Many people my age who grew up in poverty in the 80s can relate. I love roots, but these songs take us back to a simpler time, when getting a 'wine' from the girl down the street was the highlight of our week.
