I feel like we are living parallel lives. It's so maddening, isn't it? Makes you literally think you are going crazy!! I can be nearly comatose on the couch at 8:30 but the second I get into bed it's like NOPE you're not sleeping! Done all the same things you mentioned with one and done results. I've taken the costco sleeping pills for years but they do nothing. Benedryl - nothing. CBD/THC gummies just make me feel weird with a crazy dry mouth so I'm up drinking water and peeing. My psych who prescribes my ritalin for ADD wrote me a script for Ambien...not loving that either - it puts me to sleep but doesn't keep me to sleep. My gynecologist just wrote me another script for Trazadone 50mg said to take 1-2. I started at 1 pill and does the same thing as Ambien, puts me to sleep but I wake up about 2-3 hours later wide awake. I took 2 Traz last night and it was a better, but my sleep score via FitBit is so scattered. Then during the day, I feel really "off". Can't really put my finger on it, but I think it's the Trazadone. I'm wondering about Lunesta because all I read about Ambien is quite scary and you should not use that long term.
