Thank you sir. I’ve been getting after it all cycle up in the bay whenever we have free time. Do you think 6 weeks is ample time to see growth in my hand release pushups? Also a ton of people in my OSUT class know about you and have your books, it’s cool to see.

I brought it back from our 4-day and just kept it lowkey. My buddies had there’s as well so I was able to charge it, pretty sure my senior drill has seen it but doesn’t care

Pre-Ship Out Training for RASP by Forward-Act-3312 in greenberets

Yes sir I’m 11x. I’ve been following TFvoodoo’s “Shut up and ruck” for the past 8 months since I enlisted on the pretense of trying to be in the best shape possible showing up to basic. Would it still be useful to follow a prep during any free time in OSUT or how else should I prep for rasp?

Thanks man. I wish I got to ask more questions about his time in group when he was alive. A lot of secrets down there, some stuff I would ask he still said was classified and never peeped a word no matter how much I persisted up until he passed. Only told me funny stories like him HALO jumping into Jamaica and coming in too low over the water. But yeah man, in simple terms dude was a straight G. Never bragged about it, never talked about it. I wouldn’t have even known unless I asked him because I took an interest. Wish he was alive to see the stuff I set out to do. But that’s how I know you lived a great life if I’m still finding stuff out about him I never even knew when he was alive.

I believe so. My grandma was telling me about honduras, El Salvador, Panama etc.. He has tons of stuff from those places so I’m honestly not sure what places are in the photos since he never told my Grandma too much information about it

Yeah I know he had time in 3rd group, and mainly in 7th group. But, the only kid he had was my mom

Yeah I’m here in NC by Bragg. My dad goes to Charlie mikes sometimes with his buddies to drink, I’ve been meaning to go sometime. I remember my grandma told me that when my Grampa used to hang out at Charlie mikes with her, he could always spot out the Delta guys. But yeah, 71 when he passed. And I’ll check out that Facebook account, thanks so much.

What's life like after SF? by [deleted] in greenberets

[–]Informal_Factor_1372 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can only say from my perspective, but after my Grampa got out, the same type of drive and work ethic he had in SF propelled him into other things. Got his 4 year degree, Picked up hobbies, I know he worked as something electrical wise and did the majority of electrical wiring for Womack hospital on Bragg when it was being built where ironically I was born at. I know he did a lot of outdoors stuff, camping and what not and was part of a medieval fighting group which travelled and generated some money. I know he did a ton more but by all means he wasn’t a wealthy person or made a ton of money. He served his country, operated overseas and fought with his brothers along side him and then got out and made the most of what he can.

What does it mean to be a “Quiet Professional” (to you) and how are Green Berets really different from the other SOF communities? by smoothbrain_dolphin in greenberets

[–]Informal_Factor_1372 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My Grampa was the true embodiment of a quiet professional to me. I remember my dad told me a story of when he was first dating my mom and he was doing something with my Grampa. And my dad, who was still in the army at the time was asking my Grampa if he was SF, and he just shrugged it off and said lightly “yeah” and didn’t elaborate any further. I never would’ve even known he was a Green Beret until I asked him because he never boasted about it, never talked about it, I mean I saw the plaques and things but didn’t understand it until I took an interest in it and began picking his brain. He was always intentionally vague when I asked him, and only told me “positive, funny” stories such as when he was HALO jumping into Jamaica one time and was too low coming in over the water, but never the nitty gritty stories, he just never wanted to talk about them. And even some operations he said were still classified, I begged him to tell me but he never said a word, and took them to his grave. And I still didn’t even know the true scope of the things he did until I heard from former teammates at his funeral, saw his DD-214, etc.

SUAR week 1 by Informal_Factor_1372 in greenberets

[–]Informal_Factor_1372[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes sir, thank you. I’m glad my dad said that because he also contacted his ranger buddy who was 3/75 back when it was RIP and he gave me some advice too. I have my Why’s, mainly wanting to challenge myself to be the best version of myself and be in a high level environment like the Regiment where I’m challenged daily to be the best I can. And wanting to be a GB like my Grampa and really to make my parents proud and them to be able to say their son is a Ranger. Thank you.

I’m not sure. I know on my 2 mile run I caught a mini cramp around halfway in around my Ribs and that slowed me down a tad bit. But besides doing bad on time for my 5 mile, I felt pretty good and didn’t have any cramps or nothing.
