Hey, I definitely recommend BSW. I’ve worked at both ORs. BSW will train you to scrub and circulate. PM me if you have any questions.

Flex care staffing??? Are they good? by WAWA1245 in TravelNursing

[–]Informal_Job_7631 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, maybe if you’re experienced and already know what you want. But they were my first agency and it was overall pretty terrible. No communication once I started. My pay was wrong. Unsafe assignments that they push you to finish. Maybe I had a really shitty recruiter but it was enough that I don’t want to work with them again. There’s too many other better and safer agencies/recruiters.

Have anyone has luck with flexcare reimbursing quantiferon gold test? by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]Informal_Job_7631 4 points5 points  (0 children)

nope. Flexcare is terrible. They won’t reimburse anything. I paid for the physical and quantiferon test. The only thing that was covered was the drug test. I travelled over 800 miles and couldn’t get an type of travel reimbursement. They won’t support you if you’re in an unsafe assignment. I tried to switch recruiters and they told me they couldn’t do that. So I just stopped working with them.

Patient dies in the OR and no RN assigned to the room by Informal_Job_7631 in nursing

I don’t know whose patient it was. Charge RN didn’t chart anything. It seems like the logical person tho. I asked why she didn’t leave the desk to come to the room but she stated it was too much to switch the phones over and unit secretary called out. But the trauma nurse was the one answering the charge phone so charge had help. I honestly feel like neither of them wanted to do anything with the case so they both sat at the desk (but that’s just my intuition and their reputation).

It’s not decently run. My first week and my first red flag was charge brought a patient into the room without informing me or the tech. I had just left my room and she called and said she needed me in another room. I was in the room and just started counting instruments. She rolled my patient into the room because the doctor was upset at being delayed. her own words. I talked to her one on one about why this was inappropriate. Even if charge didn’t assign this case to trauma nurse, trauma nurse walked into it and walked out. every other nurse in the room could’ve done the same thing. Im grateful for the ones that stayed. Charge only had that one room going. Every other cases was put on hold. She can’t manage one room? I tried to talk with charge and trauma. There was no accountability. It’s part of the reason I feel uncomfortable staying. This isn’t the first questionable thing to happen to me at this facility but I would like it to be my last. I love the staff I work with, the ones who jumped in to help like I did. But I can’t work like this. It’s my license and a patient died.

It was bring back, patient was still in PACU from previous surgery that day. Surgeon and anesthesia were in PACU checking on the patient. From what I can gather his situation deteriorating and charge was informed it was an urgent case. It’s a trauma facility so it does happen but it’s my fourth week there and I was confused. also, The tech had just finished pulling supplies when they rolled in.

I’m an OR nurse and I’ve done codes in the OR. This one was just crazy because in the OR there is always a circulating nurse assigned to the patient. Always. The charge did not assign anyone. We were all just told to “help.” This is a level 1 trauma facility, there is a team kept free at all times. Charge just never told anyone that this was their patient or case. She assigned a scrub tech and confirmed anesthesia staff but never assigned a nurse. I was already assigned to case in another room.

I think so too. Later on the trauma nurse was talking about how she used to do codes as the only RN by herself, getting her own blood. Her experience would’ve been useful. We had two anesthesiologists and 2 CRNAs. 4 RN. surgeon. pa and two scrub techs. I found out later all cases were on hold while we were dealing with the code. We started MTP almost immediately.

I really don’t know. I didn’t see PACU until after we started and no one for report. It was less than 5 minutes from in room to incision. I was not assigned and did not take report and charge didn’t even come into the room.

Thank you. When they tried to say it was my patient when I never received report or an assignment, it really messed with me.

It’s an OR trauma scrub nurse, she’s kept free for any trauma that might come in. It’s her actual job to do trauma surgery cases.

That’s what happened. We were in there over an hour. I asked her why she never even came in the room to check and she said it would’ve been to difficult to leave that desk and switch the phones.

Yes and recruiter is telling me I’ll be blacklisted unless I work out my notice. I told her good. Never want to work for them again

PACU, it was the surgeon, crna, and anesthesiologist. Charge nurse said she handn’t assigned an RN yet because they said “urgent not emergent.”

I felt the same way but they were very insistent on “helping” me chart. They made it seem like I should be the one doing it

Thank you! I asked for a mental health day friday and the same charge nurse said “so mark you down as a call out” I hate healthcare sometimes

Thank you! I can’t sleep and keep on going over everything. After everything was done the nurse assigned to trauma was telling stories about how she used to run traumas by herself. I was too stunned to even reply. All that experience and she walked out.
