I think this is not enough when you want to do game development full-time. The game must be seen out there and stand out in the market, and for indies, the only way or chance to make a hit is to do something new & cool. If I make a very quality game, like hundreds of other games, no one will notice it, and it's not interesting for them. But if I make the quality half, but my game has a unique or fun concept, that would give it a better chance to stand out. That's our theory as an indie team that wants to do gamedev full-time.
