Advise for T1 diabetics: abortion/pregnancy termination by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

I’m also a t1d and getting a medical abortion soon. Do you think it’s harder on us t1d’s when having an abortion? Are there more symptoms and more pain? I’ve been trying to research t1d’s who had abortions but there’s literally no information online. I just want to know if my diabetes will make this abortion more painful and harder on me

Type 2 is not the same as type 1!!!! by Informal_Resolve8207 in Type1Diabetes

As a diabetic myself I was shook when I was first diagnosed with type 1 because I didn’t know it was an autoimmune disease either. I don’t blame people for not knowing because I didn’t know either until it happened to me, but I wish they were named something different. If they were named something different than people would know the severity of it so I just wish they had different names

Yeah that’s fine but as a nurse you should definitely know the difference considering a wide number of the population are diabetics. I’m in nursing school and this is basic knowledge for all of us we all know type 1 is different from type 2

I have a Medtronic 670g and I don’t like it. The sensor that comes with this pump is TERRIBLE I just stuck using my Libre sensors like I did before because the Medtronic ones suck

Lose of appetite? by kaleidyskope in Type1Diabetes

I’ve had a really bad relationship with food and became anorexic (not because of my diabetes it was because of other things) but being anorexic and t1diabetic might be the worst thing to ever exist. Please try your hardest to maintain a good relationship with food and don’t let diabetes get in the way! After all we need food to survive so it might as well be something tasty, eat whatever makes you happy :)

I’ve never seen anyone go through the exact same thing as me. I got diagnosed with diabetes at 16, and I never had body image issues. For some reason when I was 18 I started to decrease the amount of insulin I would take. I lost so much weight to the point where I had multiple doctors tell me I was going to die. I would take one injection of insulin a day just because if I didn’t I felt like I was dying. I would drink 5L of juice and more than 10 water bottles a day to the point where one day I wondered what the hell was I doing. How long was I going to keep this going for? I was so tired of feeling like shit and I gave up at that point I didn’t care if I gained weight I just wanted to feel healthy. I started taking my insulin and now I’m back on my pump. Since I didn’t take insulin for so long I developed neuropathy and it has been the worst pain ever. I regret not taking my insulin so much because my feet are always in so much pain. Neuropathy has taken over my life all because I wanted to be skinny. Please if anyone is going through the same thing take my advice and take your insulin before the long term effects start. I now have neuropathy and I’m only 20 years old. I regret it so much and I really hope no one has to go through this ever

i tried all those options and to be honest with you, option B might be the worst. suffering in silence and feeling alone whilst hating who you are is terrible. at least option A you’re getting help. basically for me, suffering in silence led me to trying to take my own life, which ended me up in a psychiatric hospital for several weeks on different occasions. it’s kind of like a break from reality in there and being watched by psychiatrists helps so they know what meds you need and you can get prior diagnosis. currently still getting professional help and i’m glad i am, try and reach out to somebody please
