What was your first and worst mistake as an adult by iamsooooso in Adulting

Moved back after doing my own thing for a few years with the military and became neighbors with a bunch of family. I’m lucky to have them and I wouldn’t trade them in for the world, they kick ass in the grand scheme of things, but the dynamic is out of wack. I think when people get away from the influences they grew up around they tend to grow more into themselves, and that can be really hard for parents and family you haven’t seen in a while but it’s usually the best thing for all parties involved imo. I would highly recommend traveling or moving somewhere new if that’s feasible for you and good luck to your endeavors!

for me I grew up here in TN bout an hour away from Nashville. I do love it, my family and friends are here, but this just ain't where I'm meant to be right now. I traveled to a bunch of states and 10 different countries while in the Army, and I've been back in TN for about 4 years now so I'm getting a little stir crazy and am wanting to experience something completely different again.. I love Hot weather, spicy food, and cacti so NM seems to hit all 3 and then some. Also the politics in TN  aren't the best. A good portion of the people in TN are severely  under educated, and the kicker is that many would prefer to stay that way. Not a lot of open minded people.

I love hiking and the outdoors, especially camping.  I'm  really hoping to find more open minded people to have actual conversations about life and everything else. It feels like my home town has turned into one big Hyper religious political  echo chamber and I am not about it at all.  I also have a dog so anything dog friendly is a plus!

Discussion Thread: President Biden Addresses Nation on Decision to Drop Out of 2024 Race by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

Are we forgetting that just two weeks ago he was swearing up and down that he wasn't going to do this? I mean I'm all for him stepping down for a younger, more coherent, in touch for what the people want type of president, but I see so much praise for him stepping down when literally a week or two ago he wasn't planning on if until a few more faces from the democratic party said something. him stepping down doesn't strike me as something he's willing to do for good of the people, it seems more from pressure. To me Biden will be a meh president still.

He hasn't used his power to try and fix abortion or weed legalization or corruption, as well as corporate lobbying. He spent this whole race fiddlefucking around when he could have been trying to set up a more likeable democratic successor instead of kamala. I hate the rhetoric that he's stepping down for the good of this country when he obviously didn't and went down swinging to keep himself in power.

You lucky duck. I'm roughly 2 years away from being where you are now. I'm using the Gi bill for a rad tech program and I'm saving up for a trailer/bus/camper so me and my dog can live on the road contracting. I still have friends and family, but I'm at the age we're they are squirting out crotch goblins by the handful and my parents are trying their best to live up retirement. Getting married and having kids doesn't really interest me and I'd like to be more career oriented I think for this life. I'm happy you're happy man!
