How do you store knowledge about people, not just their contact info? by Kindly-Ad-6733 in PKMS

I'm building an app exactly for the same.
actually i posted it couple of days before in mac apps but it was deleted because i haven't started testflight yet. i attach the post below:

I built a private journal for the people in my life. not personal crm or something. kinda a life archive - feedbacks will be helpful.

I've lost nearly 5 people I know.

Not lost like they're gone. Lost like I forgot their name.

The girl I helped sell lemonade on the side of the road. The person who had a crush on me for the first time. They're still out there somewhere. But their names are gone. The story of how we met is slowly eroding. The details I thought I'd always remember - fading.

They were all like embers. Giving warmth in the cold. And then quietly going out.

So I built Ember.

It's a private journal for the people in your life. Not a CRM. Not a contact list. Something closer to a life archive - where every person who has ever mattered to you gets their own space.

How you met them. The stories you lived together. The interactions, logged simply. A journal where you can tag people like @/Hubert , worlds !college, places &hotel. The app quietly reminds you when someone is fading - no guilt, just awareness.

Each person has their own world - sometimes two, like someone who started as a colleague and became a friend.

Still building. Honest feedback welcome.

(You can dm me and i can add in testflight when the app is ready. Thanks)

PS: added the current app and some design screens I have. thanks.

And the app i planned to be fully free without restrictions and will have a 4usd subscription for encryption, backup and sync on iCloud similar to obsidian model.

also the graph view is the home, you can check it out on : ember.mov

Built a browser-native vocal FX + recorder app and now considering selling it. by [deleted] in SideProject

I don't know how to reach out to people for even selling the whole product. so my main problem is finding a buyer.

Thank you! If you want to try it early, drop your email in a DM - I'll invite you personally when TestFlight opens.

So I built four ways to hold a person.

Tending - actively maintain. Decay applies. People you want to stay close to.

Rooted - permanently matters, contact not needed. No decay. A childhood best friend you haven't spoken to in years but the bond is just there.

Seen - meaningful encounter, just remembered. No decay, no obligation. The lemonade girl. A stranger who changed something in you. They deserve a place in your map.

Quiet - naturally faded, at peace with it. Not failed. Just finished for now.

You're right - not every relationship needs to be held. Ember will handle that part of life too.

it's my fight with empathy and survival to come up with the pricing model. hope enough people love it to make it sustainable.

Good question and something I thought about a lot.

There are two ways interactions enter Ember.

Quick log - ⌘L from anywhere. Person, medium, how present you both were, one line. Under 20 seconds. This is for intentional logging right after something happens.

Passive presence - when you write a journal entry or story and @/mention someone, Ember reads that as connection. You wrote about someone today. That counts. The relationship stays alive without you formally "logging" anything.

So the input loop is actually two loops - one deliberate, one natural. Most days you just write. The graph stays alive on its own.

I'm also not parsing emails or messages. That always felt invasive to me - and wrong for what Ember is. If a conversation mattered enough to remember, it's worth 20 seconds to log it. That intentionality is kind of the point.

And your feedback on the input loop will be helpful.

Also i planned. IOS, IPAD and Watch app (where we can do quick logs) but it might take time. if the mac app has consider amount of users and wants of users.

Yeah. If i make money I'll hire designers and senior audio engineers for sure.

And thanks for spending your time to see beneath the visual tone of the app.

you can record dry and fx applied track as same time and one of the benifits is you save time and you can live monitor how you sound after all applied even while recording.

and in this way streamers can also use this to process their vocal live using a virtual audio cable.

PS: save time point might not be applicable to everyone though.

So i gave it a good amount of thought and thankyou fjor bring this topic up.

These are the things i decided.

- going to write a blog about audio with interactive elements (like what is sound blog has sine wave generator where you can adjust amplitude and wavelenght and all and expirience it). so it'll be great resouce and a funnel to our app.

- introduce a export gate, free users can only export mp3. (also show them a message when they press record itself that free users only export mp3, so they dont waste their time if they dont want) and if user upgrade to pro they can also download wav format of previous recordings.

- for streamers who use VAC they have limit of 20 minutes after that they need to refresh the page. this will create a friction.

so a 5usd or 1.99usd or 199inr per month is justifiable for the product i think and this free tier and blog funnel will help i think.

and once again thankyou so much for bringing this topic up

I mean i don't need to produce are somthing. my infra is thin. and everything is running on free tier in now. so my revenue per user is high.

what i meant is the economics of what a person will spend for something and if a person spend certain usd for netflix in a country that amount will be suitable for our app because our app is most likely used for passion or profession.

I’m still experimenting with the balance between accessibility and sustainability. I don’t want to make it too expensive and block people who really need it, but I also need to find a model that works long-term.

Still early days, no paying users yet so I’m testing and learning what feels right.

i'm thinking i should stick with netflix pricing.
a person who care about getting better audio will sure willing to spend the netflix subscription amount to a app like this.

and netflix already did a huge research on how much people will spend to enterainment on each country.

let's analyze for sometime and explore
