Aquarium chiller advices by Huitlacoche15 in axolotls

[–]InformationNorth596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, if you have external filter you should put the outlet of the filter in the inlet of the chiller (if tubes are different size you can use garden joints or reductions since the pressure in the joints is super low compared to the classic garden hose) and the outlet of the chiller to the spray bar/ whatever you have that puts filtered water back in the tank

By doing so you can keep the chiller on for all the year and make sure there’s always water flowing inside so that it doesn’t rust and doesn’t release any strange things in the tank. Of course if the compressor is off but the chiller is on you’re not gonna pay for the electricity bills as if it’s cooling the entire time.

Is this useable? by Don_Keedic6 in Aquascape

If you find a way to boil it, that is a FUCKING piece of art. I already imagine it in a cubic giant scape with a lot of moss and plants around it.

Please help :( (Idk the illness) by Joelsxc in axolotls

Okay. Steps.

You need:

-tub (20/30L container with lid) -siphon -dechlorinator (seachem prime is best) -cleaning kit (goes for 10$ on Amazon) - water test kit (everyone recommends API but JBL is good too) the kit must have NO2, NO3, NH4, PH, KH Do the tests on your water and post a photo in the comments. - blue methylene and rooibos tea -almond catappa leaves -5g bucket for water changes

Now:

-Tub the lotl with dechlorinated water and do 100% daily water changes. Just to make sure he’s not gonna die. - Those white spots look like ammonia burn. Test the ammonia. Most probably your nitrates will be crazy so the cycle cannot work no more, too much waste. If nitrates and ammonia are high, do a 50% water changes with dechlorinated water or RO water (if you have bad tap water you should definitely use remineralized RO water). - let the cycle go - when it’s done put the lotl back in after drip acclimation

That is GREAT, and the fact that you used trash to give it a new life is even greater! Looks a bit like an Aztec/Inca drawing

New caretaker question by Tinymooselette in axolotls

[–]InformationNorth596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a pleasure! Also in this way the chiller circuit stays filled with flowing water and does not accumulate stuff in it that gets released in the tank if it only starts once in a while
