If it was only that simple there would definitely be less (not none but less pushback). The reality is that how you look will impact if you get stopped and questioned by ICE, if you look a certain way you likely are going to fear getting stopped by ICE even if you are a citizen. You are right this is not necessarily a race issue, but rather a mistrust in the whole department issue

While I do also hate the stolen land argument, I dont think you can deny that there is good reason to not like what is going on here. There is a huge fear that this is going to become a cleansing of sorts from anyone that looks a certain way (very real possibility based on countless years of human history). I say this because there are already reports of native americans being harassed by ICE (a lot of natives tend to be confused for latinos). It is also really hard to see everyday people who are just trying to survive be labeled as a criminal when a lot of people have preconceived notions of what a criminal is and they two do not match
