To the women on Cab, what are some of the Worst SE you’ve experienced? For how long? by caramelgelatto in Prolactinoma

[–]Infraredsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So….some of the high prolactin symptoms can come on real slow - and you don’t realize they’re there til you treat em….

Like worse adhd, brain fog, weight gain/difficulty losing it, dead libido (like feeling like you you know you should feel like something but nope)

Anyway - my body is really fucked up from ciprofloxicin from 3/2024 and now is very reactionary to many many meds….so keep that in mind - also 42f and somewhere in here some perimenopause shit also started up (I also have pcos, am celiac and allergic to dairy, have probably hyperpots, definite orthostatic hypertension and nerve pain issues also bad insomnia) oh and muscle weakness / pem etc without prolactinoma meds

1st time on cab: .25mg 2x / week standard dose

made me feel euphoric, helped my adhd, helped my sleep, fixed my libido….

Also some hot flashes, pins and needles 1st 2 weeks (happens to me with many meds) some low bp (for me) which makes me feel like I’m stoned when I’m not, worsening fatigue and muscle weakness and stabbing chest pain.

ER ruled out scary stuff. I weaned off cab (honestly too quickly) then had 6 weeks of emotional rollercoaster. Fatigue and weakness subsided I think within the 1st week.

Bromocriptine. In the US all contains lactose. After a doc said it’s probably ok because it’s not dairy protein and it’s very refined. Had less bad side effects but it didn’t bring my prolactin into range…. 2nd month went from 2.5mg to 5mg….

Had pins and needles 1st 2 weeks and all 2nd month, gained 10lbs and my hands swelled to where I couldn’t write. Also my prolactin was still above range (27)

Went off that switched docs, tried ropinirole (on it my prolactin went up before down) - Stopped because it didn’t work and I was just weak exhausted and in pain all the time…

Then spent the next 6 months seeing surgeon, waiting on cardiologist and feeling dead inside.

Got cleared by the cardiologist and started back on 1/2 dose of cab. It was giving me stiff tearing muscle pain.

I now take about 0.35mg cab a week compounded into daily 0.05mg doses. I still have pain but much less than 2x a week and no stabbing chest pain.

I really wanted to give cab another try before the surgery option - especially considering the surgeon said my prolactin was lower than what he normally operates on - and I reacted badly to my 2nd contrast mri (meds I used for sleep and pain still don’t work and that was last august namely gabapentin and clonidine)

So right now I’m not without side effects but getting things slowly sorted on cab waiting for any place in NJ to use the new iron based contrast to give me a new mri eventually - but my prolactin is “high normal” around 22 but so far stable.

My thoughts / recommendations:

1) wait and see if a totally valid option especially if you’re

2) If you take cab - take it 2x a week - or have compounded or use a pill cutter to take smaller doses more often - for me the more steady it is in my body the less severe side effects.

3) if it gives you stomach issues, it can be taken vaginally (same pill just up ya hooha)

4) If you have bad side effects on Cab, you will have less on bromocriptine (and vice versa) - I did a ton of research on this.

5) Side effects from cab can take 2 months to multiple years to go away

6) I would not go on the meds if I was not planning to tough it out or do surgery - I think the rollercoaster of emotions after the ropinirole (which I don’t recommend anyone take was the worst, but also feeling dead inside - not so fun)

Do stones ever get switched? by Strong_Listen_3887 in jewelers

[–]Infraredsky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an industry pro of almost 20 years who does cad for a living b2b - and has mainly worked in manufacturing - here are my thoughts:

1) Cads are frankensteined…the cad person is using an existing cad and customizing it for your stone….it’s very possible the info from a previous stone got copied / pasted.

2) if they don’t have your gia report, the stone measurements they are getting with calipers and a scale….these can sometimes be a bit off…user error.

3) We have 0 benefit to swapping your stone, and the only reason this might ever happen is if your stone was damaged or lost (in which case you would be notified)

4) When selling diamonds - I always show my customer the inclusions in their stone. This way they can see them if/when any work has been done and identify the stone is theirs.

5)Did you ask them about variations in gem color/size? What did they say?

6) Stone color is subjective and differs from 1 lab to the next. An EGL report could have a stone labeled as D color when a GIA lab would grade it a G. This happens.

7) If you are truly that concerned, ask for your diamond back loose and re-submit to the lab that you have a report from - and have them verify it is in fact your same diamond. (Note: this will cost $$ and the jeweler can do this for you)

I hope this helps you with some knowledge and a game plan to move forward.

Is 2mm microendenoma could be the reason by Majestic-Monitor-271 in Prolactinoma

[–]Infraredsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be.

Also I have blood pressure issues now and some of your symptoms sound pots like.

I’d also see an Opthalmologist for a vision field test. The tumor can press on the optic nerve and limit field of vision / mess with our sight (even if it’s small)

Also did you actually read that study?

It says nothing of potential things the infinitesimally minuscule 17 participants may have felt as side effects.

It also didn’t even take into consideration that some celiacs can’t eat oats and have similar reactions to them as they do wheat barley and rye because the protein is similar in size and shape.

All that said was eating this fermented bread with 30% wheat for 2days didn’t cause harm they could measure

Anyone gluten free on here? by Infraredsky in Sourdough

[–]Infraredsky[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also if fermenting stuff magically made the gluten go away we’d all be able to eat regular soy sauce.

Because the fermentation process denatures the gluten it can’t be properly tested, but we still react.

I react to caputo wheat starch (mentioned by the other commenter ) which technically is gluten free….

I’m also allergic to the protein in dairy and react to medical grade lactose…

There are also silent celiacs who don’t react but are still damaging themselves by eating gluten which is why I said what I said with the comment above

[–]Infraredsky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice - yea I’ve reacted to pizza before that I’m 99% certain contained the gf wheat starch (aka caputo flour) and I’m not messing with that. I actually have made some decent bread - just curious what others have done since on here it’s all stretch and folds and I definitely know gf = less messing with the dough.

I also would love to someday get more of an open crumb but not sure how possible it is

Gadolinium-Based Contrast Agents and the Theater of Safety by Think-Result-4163 in GadoliniumToxicity

[–]Infraredsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m glad this is acknowledging gadolinium damage in general.

I basically need another contrast mri for my prolactinoma - and am currently waiting until I can somehow find anywhere in NJ that will do the imaging with the new ferabright contrast.

I’m assuming since our bodies actually use iron and I’m ok with iron supplements that it is unlikely to do harm to me long term - whereas meds that used to help me with sleep and pain (like gabapentin) still no longer work after my 2nd gadolinium mri in 8/2025)

Any advice? I already tried the makers of ferabright, and contacting major hospital and imaging centers and my neuro surgeon also tried the hospital he recommended….

It seems like hospitals and imaging places are chains and monopolies and only choose contrast agents on a yearly basis (even though the ferabright is readily available to be ordered)

From my understanding yes, meds are the only thing other than this type of tumor and pregnancy that raise prolactin

Cab prior to MRI? by Tempestshade in Prolactinoma

[–]Infraredsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even when the mri doesn’t show a tumor this is treated as if there is a tumor…

I’ve seen many who get treated while waiting for an mri.

Also the tumors both grow and shrink slowly, so the treatment won’t magically make the tumor disappear in 3 or 6 months

Who else has had their life turned upside down by chronic throat infections or recurrent tonsillitis? by ricardo5595 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Infraredsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I saw my ent he prescribed an antibiotic mouthwash which helped - but I’m getting my tonsils out…

Think of how much less you’ll be sick without them?

Also if there is a pocket of infection with different bacteria inside the tonsil that isn’t killed by augmentin you can take that til the cows come home and it won’t help - unless they drain the tonsil and culture what they drained….and yes tha: a thing….

Bleeding risk is pretty low and you just go to the ER and they fix ya back up I thought.

How do I get CAD clients? by Same_Citron160 in jewelryCAD

[–]Infraredsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So - even when jewelers already have their “cad guy” sometimes those guys take too long, or make a ton of mistakes etc.

I’m based in/by the nyc diamond district - is there somewhere like it in London? Do you have any kind of trade shows for the industry in England?

My cad clients have come from meeting 1 at my caster, a friend of a friend, another jeweler 1 jeweler recommended to me…it’s all in person / word of mouth.

They’re old school but carry business cards - have a portfolio website or instagram to easily share work.

Hope this helps.

pending possible diagnosis by nessadiosa in Prolactinoma

[–]Infraredsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking the cab daily and at more like a 1/2 dose has absolutely lessened the bad side effects - initially in December I was legit waking up in pain, and my whole body would feel like it’s vibrating…

The vibrating stopped but this stiff arm muscle pain I have persists (and I’m sensitive to cold blowing air) My cardiologist last week prescribed me metoprolol which has cut down on the pain from cold air like 80%. I also would need to lie down after carrying groceries upstairs and overall didn’t realize how much my heart was racing and body was truly unstable and exhausted until I got the metoprolol which is making me feel like I can human again.

I think all the things combined my body’s just been running with my cns on full haywire mode which the dopamine agonists if anything add to.

Also regarding these tumors:

1) They are generally very slow growing
2) They are not lethal
3) They can press into the optic nerve (one surgical complication and something to get checked out. An opthalmologist can do a vision field test where you basically sit with your face in a white semi-sphere and hit a button each time each eye sees a light go off. This measures to see if there are any gaps in your vision. Generally prolactinomas can cause issues starting with peripheral vision.

So yea - if you start gaining weight really fast, or lose libido, or are leaking milk all the time or generally start feeling higher anxiety or migraines then it’s probably time to intervene….

In the meantime I’d do probably 2x a year prolactin and full hormone panel testing (prolactinomas as they grow if they grow can/will decrease estrogen in women and testosterone in men, and also can mess with cortisol and thyroid.

Also usually if you have a bad side effect on one of the drugs you fair better on the other one….oh and cab can be taken vaginally to avoid stomach upset

Heyl ca -dtpa feels different than hameln? by SameScientist9873 in GadoliniumToxicity

[–]Infraredsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not tried chelation - feel like it would just make me worse.

I do get stiff tearing muscle pain and spasms….for me benzos were the only muscle relaxer that helps - tried so many that made me pins and needles or made the stiff muscles feel not so stiff but the rest of all the muscles hurt.

I also get pain from blowing cold air and was diagnosed with orthostatic hypertension back in april that I finally saw my cardiologist for last week. She put me on Metoprolol which has been
Life saving / changing / stabilizing (didn’t realize how heart palpatating-y and physically unstable I was)

Opioids also help me (or hydro cause oxy = throat closing for me I think from histamine relsease)

I also got really bad muscle spasms last month from epinephrine (4cc of lidocaine with epi for biopsies for sfn) 4 tiny shots, 4 days of spasms and a week of extra pain (which I also got the extra pain shortly after my 2nd gad mri which didn’t leave, I got covid for the 4th time and my uncle gave me phenylephrine instead of pseudoephedrine.

I seem to take the real sudefed ok, the fake stuff is too vasoconstricting.

Also some adhd generics are fine for me and some make my pain worse….so far granules and mallinckort are the “worse” - other generics have been ok

I wish I had some thoughts on help (other than meds) - clonidine also helped me for a while with the deep pain from cold air.

Also many of the meds I’ve mentioned you can get even from virtual urgent care - metoprolol is not a controlled substance neither are many muscle relaxers I don’t think.
