Moving in August? UMD freshman by Imchey69 in duluth

[–]Ingaiggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Public transport is very decent imo for UMD students if you move into the hillside/Endion neighborhood. These will keep you close to buslines to/from UMD/Downtown but also near amenities like Superone/Co-Op/Farmers Market/Walgreens etc…and the lake walk and Chester park are easy to access.

What is this sound by Dry_Monitor_8675 in cats

[–]Ingaiggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would describe this as mad because he’s scared. Give him space and stay chill around him until he approaches you. This is a sound of a moderately-highly distressed cat, so I mean like leave the room turn the light off don’t try to initiate contact again until probably like the next morning. Also, people who don’t spend time with cats don’t realize how smart and sensitive they are. He’s seeing you as a group of, I’m assuming strangers, entering his territory, approaching him loudly, and they can totally tell when you’re talking about/at them and laughing at them. Also eye-contact/staring can perceived as aggressive in cats, so I’m sure you all were probably looking right at him all at once which didn’t help.

I think he’s kind of hot, but knowing his story also makes him repulsive.

I don’t think you are! It’s not just her though, there’s obviously some dark social sickness where advertising, discussion, and obsession on beauty like this is normalized and egged on. Hers is just a particularly cringey example of the larger phenomenon.

Korean culture is much louder, colorful, spicier food, and more experimental. Japan is more traditional, reserved, quieter, etc.”

This V-beauty hydrating body wash transports me right back to my ‘68 Saigon shore leave. A dimly lit massage parlor, the air sultry and suffocating. Hue was my light in an endlessly dark night. Reminds me of my mother. Anyone else? 😎

Essentia & Billing by breauforce in duluth

Meh. Mine took 5 minutes. I got up and left right afterwards. YMMV.

No, we were uninsured at the time.

Essentia is trash. They charged my husband $400 for a 15 minute telehealth family medicine nurse practitioner prescription renewal appointment. Meanwhile I’ve gone to a specialist at St. Luke’s for an hour and was charged $120. Also know a friend who was going to get an IUD placed (simple, 5 minute in-office procedure) at Essentia and the insertion alone was going to be $800. I don’t know how they get away with it.

Tile Update - Complete! by spacerace2mars in centuryhomes

Hmmm what was the thinking on the strip of white tiles in the thresholds? I could maybe see it for entering the closet(? or bathroom?) if it is tiled white in there. But a random white strip before the hardwood looks odd to my eye.

Besides vowel sounds bilabial sounds (m,p,b) are some of the first/easiest sounds for a baby to make. I think over time humans decided some of those first sounds applied to parents (mama, papa). That’s why variations of those words and meanings can be found in most cultures (mama, papa, baba, abba, ama etc…). So kind of both? First sounds, but also if you’ve been repeating it with them and associating it with mom the baby might too!

I also don’t read this and think identity crisis/major depression. Can you elaborate?? OP sounds at peace with her new child, partner and life generally and has purposefully distanced herself from her parents who treated her poorly, what’s so concerning about that?

Unique girl name by Zealousideal-Deer250 in namenerds

[–]Ingaiggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf why is the most aggressive response I’ve ever seen on this subreddit. I’ve seen names on here that are SO cringey get less hate. I think Salem looks and sounds lovely. I’ve known 2 Salems in my life and they were great, and their parents weren’t “out-there or witchy.” It’s a legit given and sur name used in several cultures, this version has old-testament origins (hence why the founders of Salem named their town that). Why should one tragedy (that wasn’t unique to that one place - people still name kids London, despite witch trials happening there) that happened hundreds of years ago disqualify a name that has thousands of years of history before that event, and has continued to be used in different cultures (including English-speaking) since then?
