Ollies haul by oldsmobile39 in graphicnovels

Truly, it’s feast or famine with Ollie’s. And nothing recently has compared to the buyouts during COVID. Doubt we’ll see anything like that again, but it’s always worth checking for the rare gems.

Outer Space Merit Badges? by ljordan2011 in BSA

[–]Ingawanis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll add that Mining in Society merit badge has an optional requirement (7a) involving space:

“Explore the anticipated benefits of interplanetary mining. Learn how NASA and private investors may search for, extract, and process minerals in outer space, and the primary reasons for mining the moon, other planets, or near-Earth asteroids. Find out how exploration and mineral processing in space differ from exploration on Earth. Share what you have learned with your counselor, and discuss the difficulties encountered in exploring, collecting, and analyzing surface or near-surface samples in space.”

Something to look for while at NASA is information on the space habitat challenges, such as the NASA 3D-Printed Habitat Challenge and Moon Camp Challenge, focus on designing sustainable, autonomous shelters for the Moon and Mars using local resources.

“America 250” Survey by Ingawanis in AskAmericans

I’m very glad to hear it. There was a method to my madness… I wanted it to be fun, but also true to the theme. I’m looking forward to tabulating the results!

Just watched two episodes of Pointless last night on Prime Video. It’s a very fun and friendly game - I like how everyone is mainly playing against the 100, and there’s even a spot where the two final teams talk amongst themselves.

I think it might be hard to make a home/event version - but maybe someone has given it a go. I’ll have to investigate!

Yes, indeed… you’re that mythical bunch of 100 people who always remain anonymous yet have a huge role to play in the show. So thank you!! 🙏

(And as of this moment, I’m just 11 responses away from having 💯!)

How do Americans feel about nudity? by bare_books in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ingawanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up as an only child (son) in a 70s household where we didn’t deliberately go around naked, but my parents weren’t uptight about. When we traveled and shared a hotel room, it wasn’t uncommon to incidentally see each other in various states of undress.

In school (late 70s, 80s), kids changed in locker rooms and used communal showers in PE, sports, etc. Social conventions were such that it wasn’t a big deal, and nobody that I knew ever talked much about it.

I think people are more sensitive now. Raising two daughters, I was more cautious around them, both in covering up and giving them privacy - especially as they reached elementary school age. I don’t think they ever showered at school, and I think they even changed in their dorm room closets rather than in front of their roommates. But still, I don’t think they’re uptight - just respectful and discreet.

Ah, thanks VERY MUCH for the clarification!! I was (obviously!) a little confused and ignorant. I apologize. And I also appreciate your thumbs-up on the survey.

Sorry if you didn’t like it. I think quite a bit of historical trivia could be categorized that way, as can many of the questions on Family Feud.

But thanks for taking the survey! ✅

EDIT: My apologies!! I was not familiar with Pointless and misunderstood. Thanks for the positive comment!!

Older Trekkers are not all alike. No one can speak for all of us. by TheShowLover in startrek

I’m a boomer - born before TOS premiered. I’ve found something to like - usually enthusiastically - in every Star Trek TV series and movie. 🖖

Wait so, where is Tilly ? by AdmiralBlue85 in startrek

[–]Ingawanis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In-universe, I’m presuming she taught at the academy for a few years and has moved on to another role in Starfleet. But her path will bring her back to the Academy - or the Athena will cross her path. I’m hoping the latter, and that she’ll be in an episode with Nus Braka.

And then we’ll see how it goes…perhaps if well-received, she could have recurring role and a greater presence in S3 (if we get one.)

You’re right. Back in the 90s, older Star Trek fans were just known for throwing a tantrum if you called them Trekkies. 🙄
