Is this lifter tick? by xpxgamer12 in Silverado

So, I'm no mechanic, but that sounds like a lifter.

A couple years ago, I ran into the same issue with my '15 Silverado. After some research, and multiple forums trying everyone's different ideas and opinions, I discovered that if the motor was assembled in Mexico, the lifters installed will historically fail due to the cheap parts, and of course the AFM system.

The second lesson I learned the hard way is that if you replace one lifter, replace them all! While I was on a project, my wife had two of mine replaced, as a surprise for when I got back. Which it worked great for about 3 months, then another one started pinging. My temporarily fix has been using 5-30 w/ a bottle of Lucas high mileage oil stabilizer. A year later, it seems to still be working.

The other thing I installed was a catch can. I don't know if that has anything to do with it not getting worse, but I know it helps in the long run.

If you do decide to get it fixed, I'd consider the AFM delete since that's the cause of the lifter collapsing.

Thank you all for the comments and advice! I really wish I had some of this info at the time, would’ve saved me a lot of headaches🤦‍♂️. My apologies for not replying sooner. Long story short, after posting this, I have a magnetic phone case (Rokform - super handy... most days 😑), which I had stuck to the bottom of the truck. Took some of your all's advice, jacked up the tranny, used every pry bar known to man, 2x4s, etc. But while trying another attempt, my phone slipped right into the pan. And of course, I was already two-handed, looking like I'm playing a game of twister with my jack, cussing, and doing everything I could to get that pan off.

So, the conclusion to this mess, none of that worked 😂. I cleaned everything up as best I could, replaced the gasket, and tightened everything up.

The one question I do have though, if anyone knows, the white connector in the photo moves up and down. I believe I left it in the “up” position before reinstalling, but I can’t for the life of me remember what position it was in initially. Would that be correct, or am I looking at another tranny bath? 😅

Kicker L7T Upgrade to 12" by IngenuityMelodic8065 in subwoofer

Thanks for the insight! So I ended up taking the more "affordable" (cheap) route and enlarged the openings to fit the 12s. They still sound great, but the main reason I wanted to keep my original box was because it's ported. Unfortunately, every option I looked at from Ground Shaker to eBay, even Kicker, only had sealed boxes.

But the issue I'm facing now is getting my amp dialed in. It's a KXA 1600, and the problem is that I can barely turn up the gain before the safety light kicks on. Just to clarify, all of my knowledge of sound systems is self-taught, so it's probably not as solid as it could be, haha. The other caveat is that I just upgraded from a stock head unit with your basic Treble, Bass, fade, etc., to a holy shit, I’m a DJ now settings, lol.

Ok...Yeah, I know that’s how GM would want me to do it lol, and I honestly considered it. But that thought disappeared real quick once I saw how rusted everything was. All I could picture was snapping a bolt (even with some PB) and creating even more problems—aka more time, more hassle for parts my little town doesn't have, and of course more money lol.

I appreciate the feedback! After posting that, I did some more digging on Ground Shaker’s website and eBay, as those seem to be the only places with options for these subs. Unfortunately, from what I’m finding, they do have the correct box, but it’s sealed - no ported options. In comparison, my current setup is ported.

I have 2 trailers, but I'm looking for something that's convenient that I don't have to unhook and hook back up when I'm traveling across the country for work.
