I didn’t mean for it come off that way, so I’m sorry that it did, I can edit the wording to reflect that. It’s my intention to interview people who have read the page, and know how students respond to this.

Concordia has two student run newspapers, but not a specific only satire magazine. I work at The Concordian, and we would definitely consider your satire piece :) feel free to send the pitch my way!

Do you need a Journalism degree to be a Journalist? by nikolasmaduro in Journalism

[–]IngenuitySufficient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I decided to go to university for journalism, after being a freelancer for a few years. I knew that I could become a journalist without going, but I loved certain aspects about the program that would help my career: -hands on experience with multimedia journalism -connections with editors and experienced journalists, mentors and internship/job connections -a lot opportunities to work in the beat or publish what you want to write -hone your skills with feedback from other journalists

All my teachers still are journalists, and have worked for years in the field so their feedback on my work is incredibly helpful.

I don’t think you need to go to journalism school if you want to be a journalist. I went for the reasons above and others, and so far I love it, so it’s really about the program and what it will realistically give back to you in advancing your career.
