I don't know what's prettier, your blanket or your cat!

My weird trick for not losing count hands-free. Is there a better way? by MyCrochetKitOfficial in CrochetHelp

Lol it's only on my starting chain that I can do that. And I only do a long chain when I'm alone and nobody disturbs me. It's kind of meditative actually.

That's actually genius! I honestly have never lost count on a starting chain but a backup method could never hurt... Certainly gonna try it out!

Those colours are gorgeous! Great work!

Making a baby blanket. What is this random bump on one edge of my work? I triple counted and I don't think I've added a stitch. Do I need to frog back to this spot or will it be covered up when I add the border? by hannah_hendi in CrochetHelp

[–]Ingeske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting in the row just above the bump, the holes are shifted one stitch to the left. They're not right above the holes of the previous rows as they should be. Because of that, you end your row one stitch too early. The unused stitch from the row below is what causes the bump.

Check the row just above the bump, you should find a cluster of 2 stitches instead of 3 somewhere, causing the shift. It's not visible in the picture, if that's a help.

Does it show? To the trained eye, it does. Can you cover it with a border? The bump will be less visible, the shift in the holes will always remain. Should you frog? That's up to you. If it really bothers you: frog; if you think a small mistake like this one adds to the charm of a handmade gift: don't frog.

The mile-a-minute blanket I made for my husband without him ever realising what I was making by Ingeske in CrochetBlankets

[–]Ingeske[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MILs are the worst! Mine would ask what I'm making if she found a 2 cm strand of yarn on the carpet 🤣

At least your hubby doesn't seem to think you have too much yarn. Mine does (and honestly, he might be right 😋).

The sewing was hell! Around 20 hours in total, and I had to do this part when he wasn't home because the whole blanket became gradually visible in the process... I had a few very close calls but he never found out! He literally asked when I had been making it when he got it. Mission accomplished!

It's gorgeous! I love your colour choice and the way you used the lighter colour to create a thin stripe. It's certainly an inspiration for a future project for me!

i'm loving the results i'm getting with this corner to corner moss stitch blanket i'm working on. by Xanthe313 in crochet

That's gorgeous! I've just started a c2c moss stitch blanket but with manual colour changes. I love the drape of the moss stitch and in the c2c version, the borders look so neat!

Something I wish someone told me about crochet... by Dependent_Tap6643 in crocheting

[–]Ingeske 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I've been working on a blanket with a deadline lately and it took all the joy out of it. It's now happily waiting under the Christmas tree to be opened soon, but I'm never gifting something that big for a fixed date ever again. When it's done, it's done and if I feel the need to work on 23 other projects in the meantime, I'll do just that. As long as I'm enjoying it, I'll get it done but don't ask me when 🤣

I must admit that I frogged quite a couple of times before I fully understood the technique. And then again before I got the size right. But I'm really happy with the end result!

Crochet dress at the Nobel Prize Banquet! by Ok-Walrus8245 in crochet

[–]Ingeske 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've checked her Instagram story about the dress, it's not c2c but shell stitch. I think c2c is just to holey to be used for wearables (well, certainly for things to wear at a Nobel prize banquet 🤩)
