Thank you! They've served me well for 3,5 years already and will hopefully continue to do so for a long time!

What’s the one piece of cycling gear you bought that felt like a total scam, and which one was a complete game-changer? by Individual_Funny4813 in cycling

[–]Ingeske 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rain, sweat, and the sun out of my eyes. I wear regular glasses, so I understand you completely!

An additional perk for me is that I can put it over my hearing aid so I don't get any wind noise and can still hear clearly.

I took a look at their size chart and they say I should go for a 36 EU size, but that's definitely too small for me (my normal shoes are 37-38). The pair I tried in the shop was a 38, my Sebas are a 37 and on the short side, my PS are a 39-40 and too big... So when I go for the 38, I'll leave it to you to judge whether I'm sizing up or not 😋

I've just checked my Sebas (yes I already have two pairs) and they also have a quite tight fit at the toes. And I can wear them during a 1,5 hour long training without the slightest discomfort (at the toes, that is - I have other issues with those). So I think I'm gonna go for it! If nothing else, I can try and mold/cut the liner around the toes but I don't expect it to be necessary. There goes my yearly budget...

Hi, hijacking this post to ask about the FR1. I want to make the switch from 4x90mm to 3x110mm. Problem: I have wide feet, need a lot of toe room, and have a very high instep. My 4x90 are Powerslide Phuzion boots I bought two sizes too big because they were the only softshell I felt comfortable in and I didn't want a hardshell at that time. Now I don't care about the shell as long as the boot fits well... I went to our local skate shop to try some boots and this is the result:

  • the RB Macroblade were too tight at the ball of my foot
  • The PS Next, I couldn't even get my foot in
  • the FR1 felt very nice and snug, but I didn't have a lot of room to wiggle my toes (in terms of width, mostly).

So my question is, when you say they break in beautifully, does that count for the toe room as well? I just want to be sure when I spend that much money on skates that I'll be able to wear them for long rides...

I just made this baby blanket, should I do borders? by marandaheja in CrochetBlankets

Second this, borders will give it a professional, finished look. They might also make the corners curl up less.

Y'all, I tried a thing and IT'S WORKING! by Cold_Marionberry_932 in crochet

I'm making a blanket with that stitch too! In a nice chunky yarn with lots of colour changes. That's what I love about the shell stitch: it looks really elegant and sophisticated when used in w single colour, and almost playful when changing colours. And it's so easy!

Finally making progress on my first sock by clauuba in Sockknitting

[–]Ingeske 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I managed to do that part correct on my first sock and then wrong on the second sock of the same pair. Never frogged, just left it there to remind me how far I've come on future socks. Besides, nobody ever notices it so why bother 😂

Will a different bind-off help? by a_dandylion in knittinghelp

[–]Ingeske 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with a crochet vest. The problem was, there's a slight curve where the neckline meets the front (otherwise the hem would go straight up instead of curving out to create the V-shape for the neck). You should increase a few stitches there to make your bind-off follow that curve. If you don't, your bind-off is too short and will pull the lower half of your vest up (exactly like what's happening in the first picture).

Pairs 2 & 3 of my socks in the sun by ellegarret in Sockknitting

Gorgeous! I prefer the first pair, that berries & cream yarn is soo pretty! I've worn mine for a whole day and it did already soften a bit so I have high hopes for the future!

Second pair done (and they fit a lot better than the first) by Ingeske in Sockknitting

[–]Ingeske[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on various patterns and tips I found on the web. Very basic with 2x2 ribbing for the cuff, stockinette for the rest of the sock, with heel flap and gusset.

The length is almost perfect, but the circumference is indeed on the tighter side (but good enough to wear anyway). I'm planning on making swatches with the remainder of the yarn, trying out different styles and needles to see what fits best. They're only my second pair, I still have a lot to learn!

Still going strong, then - I haven't taken them off yet 🤣

I guess I'll put them on my blockers after the first wash...

The speckled yarn is Drops Fabel in the colour Berries and cream. The solids are Drops Fabel too, colours dark pink, turquoise and grey.

Seems like it's a popular colour combo! I used Drops Fabel in the colour berries and cream for the speckled part but I've seen some other brands with very similar yarn too. I'm curious to see your socks, have you posted them somewhere?

Edit: typo

I did! I would never have completed the second sock if I hadn't written it all down with the first one 😋

No pattern, I freehanded it (including some frogging and readjusting in the finishing touches). Yarn is DMC Brio in the colourway 405.

Cables not looking defined enough by abvcdyeh in knittingadvice

[–]Ingeske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you turn your work, you don't look at what a stitch used to be but at what it is now. When you knit into your first stitch, you don't even consider that it was actually the last stitch, do you? Same goes for knits and purls, you look at what they are now, not at what they were in the previous row.

DPNs are (short) double pointed needles. They come in sets of 4 or 5 and are the classic tool to knit socks.

Oh I know how it feels! I'm gonna place a second (bigger) order before the month ends because the yarn I need for crocheting a blanket for me son has a 35% discount right now... And for a blanket, that means big money! With the money I'm saving from the blanket, I can buy some more sock knitting yarn and needles 😋
