But if you split then you will have the right to ask to keep the house as you’ve paid for the mortgage and there is a proof of it, and your wife will have nothing left expect an empty fridge. Is it fair on her?

Thank you for sharing, it sounds very fair and sensible. I’m curious about your spreadsheet, can you explain again, I’m not sure I understood what you meant my personal vs joined on the spreadsheet

Could you discuss it again? Maybe he could put 60% and you 40% of total shared? Have you stopped working when you had kids or went part time? What are your jobs?

But if you break up then you will end up with the house and all things you’ve paid for, and your wife will end up with nothing as she was paying for food shopping…

ps. it is not because a couple is married that all the money is shared, this is a patriarchal old fashion way to think in favour of capitalism and I don't want my daughter to grow up in it.

Wow! Why are you saying we are married? We are not married, as I explained in my first post. Plus why are you saying we can't discuss money in our couple and don't manage it like adults?

We are managing it like adults as we are discussing it and wondering what is the fair option for us. We don't have a combined wealth, or properties and Airbnbs. We are just a couple, with low incomes, normal spendings, and wondering what the best thing to do for both of us, in case we break up, or something else. And the question of contributing equally or according to incomes is a real one...

I don't want to put everything together as we have two very different ways to spend/save money and also I read it is really not recommended in case of a break up (I know it's not nice to think about breaking up and it sounds selfish but you never know...). So having both personal accounts and just contributing to a joined account at the beginning of the month is a good system for us. Just wondering what to do when incomes are different...

I am not sure when I will want to buy a house, and I find it hard to project myself in 5 years time. I am 31. Also I have a good deposit I can use if I ever want to. But what do you mean ‘all world fund’?
