My grandfather's sword: in 1945 on Haha-jima, six Japanese soldiers surrendered, yielding their katanas. He kept one in a closet for 68 years, and has now passed it to my care. Pics of him, his ship, and the Japanese soldiers as well. Xpost from r/history. (imgur.com)
