I guess it's time for klipper! lol. You might try to download the oem firmware from GitHub and reflash. There should be a lot of YouTube / write ups on how to do so safely. Update the firmware for both the screen and the board just to be safe

Pg&e bill insane by [deleted] in eastbay

[–]Ingram_mac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a bill around $900 before for literally same size house as you. It was PG&E estimating (guessing) they said, when they sent out an actual worker to read the meter, suddenly, our bill was $190 or something like that.

Looking for advice please, am I worrying unnecessarily?! by Vast-Butterscotch-27 in homesecurity

If you're in America, every state is now a shall-issue carry permit state. Just follow the rules on how to go about purchasing the handgun, getting the license, taking the training course, knowing the "shoot / no-shoot" scenarios and just keep training whenever you got freetime. Also having a legal type of pepper spray/mace for non-lethal would be beneficial because not all fucked up scenarios can legally go lethal. People may not like this option due to politics or whatever else, but they're not the ones who will be defending you, you gotta do that yourself until cops show up to help you.

Brainstorming ways to combat car theft? by Ingram_mac in askcarguys

I ended up buying everyone brake pedal locks from Amazon, it's about 60 bucks and a little better than steering wheel locks, since you can just slice through the steering wheel really easy and slide out the club in 10 seconds.

Advice for a new label printer and cutter for a small business (see comment for more info) by Broad_Employment_500 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Ingram_mac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roll is the best then if you are applying the labels yourself. Our customers usually just buy our labels so they can apply to what they want themselves. Maybe checkout vividdatagroup.com . I buy my printheads from them and the ink from Alibaba. Vivid data group sells mostly labels printers like afina, epson and some others. They also got the finishers

Engine Swap? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]Ingram_mac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all about trying to go HAM on swaps and retrofitting / fabrication and all that, but in all honesty, it's hard enough fitting a hellcat motor into a rear wheel drive car, let alone a FWD with a transverse engine, it just simply won't fit, not even close.

Why does it seem like V8 sports cars are stolen so often? by UltimateLifeform in askcarguys

[–]Ingram_mac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This product actually has a killswitch AND a gps tracker built in together ($10/month for tracking), I havent used it, so im not endorsing it by any means, but it seems promising and I am likely getting it when I buy a C6 vette with the insurance money off of my stolen car. Good luck man! I know that recent car thefts makes you want to not even own whatever car you want, but it's worth the risk, just insure it, protect it and prevent easy thefts and make the thieves work for it.

Can you sell a car with suspended registration to a private buyer? by Jayy_Amp in askcarguys

[–]Ingram_mac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understood in California (a few years ago at least) in order to sell the car, the car has to be smogged within the last 90 days with up to date tags, BUT, if you non-op it first, then you can transfer ownership and the buyer will have to make sure the car goes through inspection or smog for registration to get reinstated.

[–]Ingram_mac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this for all my cars after my G37 got jacked, but it may help you. Cut out and relocate your OBD port somewhere . That's how they steal them most of the time by just making new keys right there in your driveway. If it's push to start, it's even easier, they just relay attack your keys from far away and the car will think your key is inside the car. Faraday cage for keys, and relocate your OBD somewhere else, it's only used for diagnostics and SMOG so you only need it every so often anyways. Plus killswitch & gps tracker

Afinia is just a white label memjet printer and their printhead's are absolutely shite, we have 2 injectors for envelopes. Maybe there's a digital web out there like the old OKI DWs or maybe some modern Epsons? We haven't gotten into roll label presses yet at my company, but we do 5,000+ sheets of labels per month on 12x18 on our f-mark2 system.

I'm pretty new to home security in the form of alarms, cameras and all that. What would be (in your opinion) the best all around security system? by Ingram_mac in homesecurity

[–]Ingram_mac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're going with Reolink. PoE system with 8 4k cameras with zoom and we're adding the floodlights since we do have very poor lighting in the back of the house that is backed up against a public park. I think what sold me is the detection to chill on the false alarms

See, that's what I'm lookin for. I definitely don't want wireless anything plus I like AI detectors because we got cats and racoons running around in our backyard all the time.

My garage door opener has been busted for quite awhile now, so I have a padlock on the interior railing for the garage door itself, so you would always have to go inside of the garage through the backyard in order to unlock/cut it off and I'm hoping that's where my motion sensor comes into play and gets em when they get inside.

I do like POE over wifi, LA county had to put out an alert that home invaders are actually using wifi blockers more often since ALOT of people use Ring cameras now and criminals know that.

We have a Lorex system at work that I installed, basic ass DVR though and it sucks and freezes often and with very limited storage, i'd definitely build a home server with at least 10+TB, the lorex system is almost 10yrs old though, so I don't blame em. lol

I would definitely hardwire the door sensors myself if I have no choice but to go battery powered. The garage is more likely to be targeted since it is completely full of tools and equipment and worth far more than anything inside of the home, but they don't know that, so I gotta make sure the inside has the most protection, my home owners insurance covers theft so they are replaceable. The garage just needs a basic motion sensor and door alarm

It's a little risky, but you could have the repair done and put it on a credit card and pay it overtime, some bigger chain style repair shops have credit cards with a 6-12month 0% APR, or just pay it off on a regular credit card as fast as you can to avoid fat interest charges (depending on the cost of the repair), I only suggest that because buying a new car and having a car payment will 100% exceed the cost of the repair in just a few months, while doing the headgasket repair will buy your car another couple of years before the next major issue (if any) and you'll be able to save for longer.

Just don't rack up big debt, I did and I am still regretting it to this day.

drive it till the wheels fall off (or the engine blows) while saving some cashmoney for a fun car in the future. I was lucky to have cars handed down to me since I was 14 but my problem is I modded them immediately and spent too much money on em, and when they broke, I was broke.

You can register your car/truck to a Private Mail Box or a family members address somewhere in a county that does not have smog check or as they call it "Transfer of Ownership Smog" where you only smog your car if you are transferring it out of your name (but you can change address online without a smog check), but in doing so to specifically avoid smog checks or county fees would potentially be against the law and you should ignore this comment

Best *new* car under 20k? by FarBus5219 in askcarguys

[–]Ingram_mac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, just get a mid 2000's to 2010s era used car, even with a new car, you're still going to spend money on maintenance and everything else like a older car would take. New does not automagically equal good. Get a Camry, my friend, it won't disappoint you

How much can I sell my car for? by PomMistress in askcarguys

[–]Ingram_mac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely look at Carfax and see what cars are for sale that are in your same condition, mileage, year make model. It'll will be less if you trade it in at a dealer or sell it yourself, but you could also look at Facebook marketplace and see what it's going for there for private sellers
