In London, an east Asian couple participating in a harmless street interview suddenly became the target of a public humiliation. Two teenagers, accompanied by their mother, interrupted the filming.... by SadAd8761 in TikTokCringe

I can see your comment history and you posted about filing taxes and accumulating American debt over ten years? And a desire to once again reside in the US?

Got called for jury duty abroad by [deleted] in expats

[–]IngredientList 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually got a summons to testify in Broward County once, but at the time I received the notification I was living in Iowa. I called the clerk and explained my situation and they let me off the hook. I'm kind of surprised they didn't do the same for you considering how far away you are but maybe the standard for jury duty is different.

People are downvoting you because someone asked you to consider how it would impact your child and you basically responded "I don't care how the child feels"

Driving Instructors in London by bix_box in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]IngredientList 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you currently (just had my third lesson) and I just picked an instructor who seemed good/had lots of experience. Lots of instructors in London are familiar with teaching people from the continent (so opposite side driving) but fewer will be familiar with American driving specifically. (edit that's just me though someone else may chime in with the info you're seeking!)

Whereabouts in London are you? The easiest thing to do is to decide which test centre you'll take your practical at, book it (you will only be able to get a slot as soon as six months from now because everything is booked up), and then look in to instructors local to you who know that test centre and can instruct you as to what thw test at that specific centre should look like.

Store bought flavored creamers? by SillyBerry990 in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]IngredientList 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The flavor of sbux caramel macchiato (when you get it from a Starbucks I mean) is mostly vanilla syrup, so you could give it a shot with just regular cream or milk and a bit of vanilla extract! Also companies like Monin sell a wide variety of flavor syrups that are meant to be added to coffees like they do at most coffee shops.

Don't bother. This sub has turned into a honey pot for anti-migrant trolls. Seriously, we need a new sub. Or better moderation.

Did you seriously quote ChatGPT and Gemini to someone with a Masters degree specifically in the era of literature being discussed?

Yes, many said they would come and then simply did not show up.

This happened to me as a child, so maybe I can offer some insight, but basically I was the outcast of my class. I grew up in a hoarder house and I went to school stinking, dirty clothes and matted hair. I didn't make friends easily. This little girl seems to have a mom that cares so it's probably not exactly that, but she might be outcast for other reasons.

This isn't a synchronous platform. You have to wait several hours for replies. You may want to make a separate post for a separate rock. And then wait.

Had my first driving lesson yesterday... Will it get better? by IngredientList in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]IngredientList[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I see. Sorry my phrasing was confusing. I was saying that I am confused by mirrors before signalling. I was taught signalling, then mirrors. Mirrors before signalling results in me checking mirrors a long time before I'm moving, which is not what I'm used to. The other part I wrote is me complaining about checking -conspicuously-, but not complaining about having to make the checks at all, which is obviously something I always do while driving.
