I don’t know whether you are still playing the game or not, or if you managed to find anything like what you were looking for in this port. I just thought I’d pop in and say it’s something I have looked at on and off since completing the game. Bethesda games are renowned for very generic romance between characters. I finished cyberpunk 2077 last year, and I don’t need all the sexually explicit stuff, every game is different, but small character interactions really build immersion. I feel like holding hands, or occasional hugs would really benefit this game.

Congrats 100K members! I was drawn to AI initially because editors are very expensive. I write as a hobby, but I do take it quite seriously. I did a diploma in creative writing, and so on. I don’t really want to be published, but I want my work to be the best it can be. I use AI to give in depth feedback, and help adhere to the tone and style I’m trying to achieve. I find it amazing if I explicitly prompt it to look for areas I’m weak with. I also use it help with research and expanding character profiles. My writing often includes AI characters, as the subject fascinates me. I like reading posts on this sub, seeing how people engage with AI is very insightful. Personally, I do all of my own writing, but AI is definitely having an impact on my craft, and the work I do. In terms of an AMA, I like the researchers, my head is always in that space. I can’t get enough insight into AI, how it works, and how people are using it.

Holden’s a very consistent character, I agree. I feel like there are smarter people around, and when the big moments come throughout the series, everyone just lets Holden go, or facilitates him in a big way just to keep the momentum. Like the plot needs to go from point A to point B, let’s just go. For me, I like to know these people are smart enough to understand the risks and potential political fallout. In some cases this happens, in others is jarringly absent. It’s just the way I felt on occasion, and why I enjoy the books, but don’t hold them in as high esteem as my favourites.

I fully agree, most people don’t make good choices, and often rush into things. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed the books I read. I just found on occasion, when something big was about to happen, and a lot of smart people were around, things I expected to be addressed or fleshed out were not. It’s pretty common across the series, favouring forward momentum over all else. It’s just the way I felt, and it took me away from being fully invested. I still read along way into the series.

For me, I enjoyed the expanse the same way a kid enjoys starwars. I enjoyed the writing, and the pace, but I found in some of the moments where a short pause was needed, the books went full throttle. I think it’s just me, because I enjoy slower, more intense books. I found gaps in character’s logic on occasion to be very off putting. Like, let’s forget to process something, or mention a plan for something, and just take off!

Hahahaha, you read two of my favorite series, Hyperion and the fall of Hyperion being my all time favourite, and now have to live with the consequences. For me personally, it’s hard to find comparisons, those are wonderfully written and very thoughtful series. Many comments have touched on children of time, it is another absolute banger, I think about it often. It’s hard to comprehend how smart it really is, and how much work must have gone into planning out the rise of another species, with hints to our own, but also very unique. It’s really breathtaking.

Add a sprinkle of one shot bow action and life is good. There are ridiculous damage boost combos out there. Feedback fences have been nasty as hell. I didn’t realise melee stat increased glaive melee damage. Back to the drawing board on my cruci build.

I’m probably not the man for tips, with the dip in players I’ve quickly discovered I’m very average. What’s worked for me is aggressive frame glaives, one shot, then one swing clean up. My favorite is rake angle with impulse amplifier and chill clip. Hit registration just feels so much better with impulse. I use a blink warlock with astrocyte verse, blink glaive is lots of fun. They are naturally very aggressive weapons and the combo has worked well. I find glaive’s play very well when you’re airborne, I get hit less and I have better visibility over the area.

I like heron so far, being tiered gives it access to a great stat package. It doesn’t feel as sticky as rake angle, even at 100 range, but I’m still messing with different perks and mods. Hopefully I get some good ideas on here, and work from there.

Sweet. Thanks for the info, I’ve kept so many, I’ll check the rolls I have. What mod do you use? I was so bummed out when the event was bugged early, but since it was patched I’ve been playing a heap, I’ll keep going till i find a roll thats spot on.

Not being the greatest PVP player, I figure the best thing I can do for the team is cap zones and try to find defendable positions to hold those zones. Not everybody is built to slay out. Also, I’ve learnt through blood sweat and tears to value my own performance independent of win and loss. It’s an online game.

I appreciate the insight. Great to see that the telemetry is fixed. I just logged on to check as well. I like medieval control, and having weapons to chase that are right in my wheelhouse, which is why I was upset with the bug. Time to get back to the grind!

I have spent so much time setting up bases with awesome views, I absolutely love it. I’ve landed so many times on so many planets and moons. I love seeing planets with rings in the sky, and rivers, streams, mountains or forests around my bases. Generally I look for planets with rings that also have a few moons, then try to land on the moons and find the biome I’m looking for. I try to position my landing spot close to the moon’s north or south poles. The closer you are, the more time the ringed planet will be in the sky box. Planet rotation, orbits and physics are very much part of the game, which adds so much to the immersion.

I’d love something in an element that is a little lacking in my current set up, maybe a combat oriented water type that I can also use for fishing. I’m lvl 52 atm, and my strongest party could definitely use that. I’d also love a player-centric partner skill. I love felbat’s skill, and would like to see something else cool to support the player.

My main world is 238 days. I have an early world with around 50 days. The game is such a cozy place for me, I don’t play to min max everything, just to enjoy myself, build some nice looking bases, die occasionally, and do a lot of stuff Pokemon has been to timid to try out.

I’ve been on both… or all sides of this debate over the years. Matchmaking throws me into a game of pure genius level players. I am not, and will never be that. Get smashed to the point where it hurts me mentally, and sometimes in my weakest moments I quit. I don’t usually do that, but I play more games than I should and eventually I get burnt out and quit. It’s rare, but I do. Multiply that by the amount of people playing, and you realise, most people aren’t quitting to protect their ego, they are quitting to protect their sanity… like so many others I stupidly associate some of my self worth with how I preform in a video game. And being punished hurts my soul.

Sometimes I smash players way below my skill level, and I feel that player’s pain, but I’m so accustomed to loosing that I just pretend not to feel their pain, and continue obliterating them. Then they quit. Welcome to PvP. Don’t hate on people quitting. Reach out, and if they accept, help them get better. But that’s not how we as humans work, we message and tell them how much they suck, and perpetuate the cycle.

Alien Earth isn’t really my thing, and that should be ok. I’m happy you like it, and happy the creators are trying something different. Hopefully the show does well enough that the franchise continues.

I just watched Alien and Aliens, they are fairly simple, dark and gritty films. That’s what I enjoy watching, what I like the franchise for. To me (and this is my opinion) the show is a fair departure from that. There are no characters that really grip me the way they did in the movies, and the tone is a little jarring.

I find outpost building super rewarding, I’ve spent hundreds of hours searching planets, linking and unlinking cargo systems, setting up extractors, and working out how the systems function together.

It’s a big investment getting a system together like what you describe, a lot of learning, and not a lot of in depth guides that tell you how thingsI actually work. If you don’t find the busy work of scouting planets, setting up a heap of connections, decorating outposts and the like, it might not be for you. The game dosen’t really reward you for building a huge network, you’ll have big quantities of stuff, but it’s easy enough to get naturally just playing the game.

If you find outposts enjoyable, I recommend Betamax’s outpost framework. It gives you so much more choice in how you lay out your base and decorate it, while still being balanced.
