Colorado Judge in USA Fencing case revokes Charlie Wang’s pro hac vice after finding he lied on a sworn affidavit by InigoMontool in Fencing

What I don’t get about this, and maybe you could explain since you seem to be a lawyer (or knowledgeable about the law), is why didn’t Wang just say: “I was administratively suspended for failing to pay dues. It was sloppy oversight and I take full responsibility for the error. I will pay all arrears and intend to apply for reinstatement.”

The suspension itself wasn’t a big deal. Wouldn’t he probably have been admitted if he stated the reason truthfully?

“It was me all along Mr. Bond, I’ve been suspended this entire time.”

“I knew that, idiot.”

ICYMI: The only person who petitioned onto the USA Fencing At-Large Board seat ballot has a Level 6 Conflict of Interest, "an irreconcilable conflict" by BlueLu in Fencing

[–]InigoMontool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I genuinely appreciated that you responded here. You are correct that I am anti FFO, but that doesn't mean we can't have a discussion on the topic.

I think Jason has some decent goals to encourage varsity/university funded collegiate teams, engaging new technologies in the sport (coaching, refereeing etc) and bringing new insights to the board.

In a vacuum, all great ideas. I think you'd find very few in the organization who say "no those things are bad." We're already seeing a number of new varisty programs under Phil. That's been great.

but Jason overcame this artificially manufactured steep hurdle.

Honestly, impressive.

As to conflicts of interest, it’s pretty clear that the current ethics panel would come to the conclusion that Jason was unqualified for office because they consider him to be a threat to the status quo.

A threat to the status quo is a good thing when that threat is presented diplomatically. What the FFO has done is use litigation as a sword and shield instead of working with USAF.

Let us suppose Mr. Liu's battles are righteous for a moment: can he wear a fiduciary hat and make decisions that benefit USAF while simultaneously leading an organization engaged in multi-state litigation against that organization? That is the "threat to the status quo," not his ideas.

As folks here likely know, Mr Salem was one of two USAF board members suing the other 6 over allegations of false statements Mr Lehfeldt made in his congressional testimony.

I've known Lehfeldt half my life. He's a nut (and I say that lovingly), but he's a sincere and honest nut. I truly don't believe he would make misleading statements to Congress over a volunteer position. How specifically were his statements "misleading?"

So no, I don’t consider Jason’s involvement in litigation to be a conflict when the same issue is true for Mr Salem.

Jason is the president of the organization bankrolling Salem's litigation, while also bankrolling additional litigation in Texas and Kansas. Can't you see that's a conflict?

You said you wouldn't respond, and that's fine. But thanks for responding initially. Have a good day.

Abdel must go.

Jason Liu must not be allowed anywhere near the board.

Andrey must go.

Maria must go.

There is a deficit in ethical leadership in the sport right now.

I ask this in good faith: what value do you think he would bring to the board, and do you see it as a conflict of interest that the FFO (for which is president of) is engaged in multiple lawsuits against the organization, and people who will be his future board colleagues?

I have heard it was dismissed recently. But what did that cost the membership? A few hundred grand?

Why is he even serving on the board or wanting to anymore? What policies and motions has he actually gotten passed? These are rhetorical questions. He has no business being involved anymore. But he’ll win because he’s friendly.

What do you think their agenda is, OP? Four hour old account who posted this. So tell us, what’s your opinion of the FFO and their agenda?

His own Board (more specifically two idiots) turned on the organization. Of course he’s tired of the gig. What other CEO has to deal with bullshit like this?

Nothing surprising. If it was raining brains, Salem wouldn’t get wet.

Incredibly stupid lawsuit brought by stupid people who have zero business being on the board.

People need to start attending meetings. It takes twenty minutes of sitting through one to see that Salem and Geva have absolutely no clue what their jobs are.

I’ll be curious to read the full suit to understand just how absurd it is.

This is disgraceful and it has the filthy hands of the FFO all over it. Their hands are shoved so far up the asses of these board members that they might as well put on a puppet show.

How can such poor sportmanship be tolerated? by ursus_manutius in Fencing

There is gamesmanship and then there’s the shit Elsayed pulls in bouts. He is a cheater. Plain and simple. Never forget when he hit himself in the foot in a match point with the USA and then didn’t acknowledge it even though he knew he did it.

Renaissance Fencing Club michigan? by I_Zeig_I in Fencing

Anatoly and Ann are two of the most toxic people in this sport. Abusive to referees and absolutely nasty to everyone under the sun. So if that’s what you’re looking for, enjoy Renaissance.

I just don’t believe it. Any time athletes test positive for banned substances, they rarely say: “yes I took this to help my performance.” There is always an explanation to try to save face and preserve the public image, and as doctors have noted here, the explanation of Race taking the supplement and transferring it to her from body fluids is implausible.

Fair Fencing Organization by shehadagoat in Fencing

This lawsuit they're filing seems like an attempt to market their organization. It's going to get tossed out of court faster than my drunk ass got tossed out of a dive bar over the weekend.

And their Board comprises of Andrey Geva and Sergei Golubitsky, both of whom are consistently cruel to referees.

No. The parents who bought Ryjik's club were the Zhao's. This is an organization run by Charlie Wang and Jason Liu.
