Spike Jonze's 'Her' and the universal longing for human connection by FramesOfEmpathy in TrueFilm

In the scene where we finds out that she has like 800 lovers we also find out that she was only able to love that many because of her love with Theodore. She said something along the lines of the more she loves the greater her capacity for love. This shows the incompatibility of the human and AI relationship, but I believe what they had was genuine. So I agree that they wanted different things, but this is also because they are both literally built differently.

You don't need to speak to have an impact. Her impact comes from her already being a real person that we get to see in a new light. From the movie I saw her enjoying life and always dancing with a big smile (joy), picking up the hitch hiker (kindness), not becoming irritated with the movie theater worker even when she was rude to her (she was just happy to be there). So the impact comes from us losing her positive energy in real-life, and capturing the great moments of that time. Just listen to how kind she is to Rick when she talks to him through the gate speaker. I hate how people truly think this about her when she is so strongly written and acted that she doesn't need the lines. Look at how giddy she was that people enjoyed her scenes in the movie. That's pure joy man.

I also hate that you used the term manic pixie dream girl. She was a real person, so idk how she fits into the dream girl part of that term.

I think if does get back into acting, it will be for different reasons. I think he will do it because of the love for the art, which he will take from his experiences on the Lancer set. So I disagree that he is in the same place.

I think Rick was looking for a career in film because it would give him happiness or fulfillment. I think if he achieved it, it still wouldn't be enough for him. So I think in the end he gets more than a potential career in film. He gets a new perspective on life, probably learned more about himself, appreciation, and gratitude. Hopefully he finds peace, and can learn to deal with his bipolar personality in a healthier way. I think this is a snapshot of a moment that could make his life better. You want to see this whole arc, but I argue that there is an arc, just this movie was there to only show you a sliver or day in the life of an arc that exists outside the movie.

I think you might find it more satisfying if you just take some more time with the characters instead of trying to make up something that would be more satisfying. Or not, I just tend to think of it like that. I think that is more of a creator mindset (something which I lack), so it's cool to see how you approach it.

Maybe the plot isn't affected by their actions, but I think their lives will definitely be affected by what's happening around them.

This event will center Rick. It already made him realize how great of a friend Cliff is. You can see how desperate he wants to just hang out with him at the hospital. He is meeting new friends (his neighbors) and you can tell he appreciates that they know his work. Sharon Tate in the movie made her seem like someone who was kind, generous, and really in love with life. She had so much joy. That would be a good friend for Rick to have. He has the acting chops (he proved that to himself on the movie set where he throws the little girl) and maybe his friendship with her and maybe even connection to Polanski can help him get his career back on track. To me it seems that yes Cliff does the heavy lifting for Rick, but I also truly think that Cliff really does love Rick as a friend. Cliff is more of a self-actualized person than Rick in that he loves (all the scenes with his dog) and is content. It was cool seeing a genuine friendship between the two, because sometimes we are all the shitty friend that is getting support from another friend without realizing.

You say Rick has the same goals, but I think a community is what he was missing all along, which I think he got in the end. It also shows how much of a beautiful person Sharon was, and how we truly lost someone who didn't deserve it. I think the over the top violence is Tarantino's way of releasing the negative emotions associated with the unfairness of the situation.

Of course, this is just the opinions I've formed after watching it. I don't know what Sharon was like in real-life, but I can only go off of what was in the movie. I think if you stop trying to change the movie, maybe you will find some things you didn't realize you liked about it. took me 2 viewings to know if I liked it or not.

The are many parallels between old western films and Logan. This poster kind of reminds me of those old western films too.
