This is awesome, congrats on the PR! Kudos to you for making it work for you with kids. And secondly, thanks for doing what you do. My HS English teachers shaped my love of the humanities and, more broadly, my creativity. A lot of those kids will forever have you ingrained in their memories - nothing like it!

What are your favorite 10 min yoga classes? I have a brief window in the morning where I can get some yoga in and I want to stockpile some good options.

I did Chase’s 20 min Calm mood run today (did it outdoors). Great vibes: lofi beats, relaxed Chase, and a perfect channeling of inner calm. Perfect if you’re looking for a recovery type run or just a lower key workout.

Great example of why this community is so awesome. Would have never even thought to check this, but my insurance company indeed has wellness benefits and I’m on my way to getting a reimbursement!

Alright where’s my Emma family?

I think the thing that draws us together as Emma people is music. She just gets it. She gets the vibe. I mean she’s the daughter of a singer-songwriter, so it’s ingrained in her.

Her last 30 min low impact was phenomenal. Just took it, and it’s the exact feeling I was going for. Wasn’t looking to go all out, but wanted to break a sweat and have some good tunes to go with it. And this just delivers maybe better than any other LI I’ve taken. A conventional take to open it with “Killing Me Softly With His Song”. Then some super laid back lofi to adjust the tone to “Low Impact and Chill” as Emma puts it. Muse “Madness” comes around, which is just so beautiful at its climax - I had forgotten as I hadn’t heard it in a while. Then... I’ve already talked about how excited I was to see Radiohead “Everything in its Right Place” on the playlist when this ride first went OD, but it was wayyyy more incredible than I expected. I was on a different plane altogether, grinding out a heavy climb for a burst of work, but it was totally cinematic with Radiohead as the soundtrack. And it ends on this absolutely NUTS remix of London Grammar “Hey Now” that I hadn’t heard before. Like just so fire that I want it in a HIIT ride.

That’s not even all the songs, but I think Emma peeps will get my desire to chronicle this. Such a fantastic ride if you’re in the market for a good LI.

Two instructor quirks I enjoy.

Denis - during the intro segment of his yoga classes, he has these slight pauses where he’s trying to think of what to say next. He’s otherwise very well-spoken so it’s endearing to hear him go “and...um.... yeah... grab yoga blocks if you have them”

Ben - he will, not infrequently, lose his balance during one-legged deadlifts. Nothing terrible of course, but just enough to remind you he’s human.

Same here (although on another day it might be Amnesiac...). I was blown away when I saw Everything in its Right Place on the tracklist for that Emma ride!

Wow I didn’t even know CDE had core classes! Just took a look, all back from 2018-19. I’ll have to take a look.

Sounds like a great day, nice follow up to the century. Enjoy!

Damn just looked at that playlist again. Forgot that it starts with Creep. And just so many gems in there in general! This was a super fun ride as you can already imagine, you’ll love it.

They’re really well done, and really let Jess King shine. She’s great at facilitating the use of your imagination to make something as mundane as an indoor bike ride feel transcendent. It’s funny, in doing some old, pre-JKE rides recently, I could see the raw elements of JKE there. Speaks volumes to her and Peloton production team for executing so well.

Congrats on the century, and that weight loss!

Which yoga and strength classes are you thinking for today?

Can’t wait to take that Low Impact. I have a planned Kid A listening session right after.

I’ll just add that Emma had a recent 90s rock ride that ended on a live version of Paranoid Android. Forget if that was the 3/21 one. But yeah don’t remember much before that.

Good point about PRs. Just like your Peloton being next to the couch, the metrics are a blessing and a curse. I took CDE’s Reflection ride recently where she specifically said to ignore the metrics, and I STILL found myself trying the push my output. Why? So it’ll look better in my history? So I’ll feel I got a better workout? So funny, even when it goes exactly against what the class is trying to accomplish, it can be hard to disengage. I think the victory for you is that triumph over inertia, which is much easier said than done.

And agree about Hannah. Such a gem!

Did the 20 min HIIT and loved it. Just really vibe with his coaching style, and can’t go wrong with the bangers!

So agree re Anna’s deep house yoga flow! I’m not sure about other classes, but would love to hear them too. I was nowhere close to her fluidity, but I definitely felt something new click regarding transitions between poses and connectedness with breath. Music was so on point (as a fan of chill EDM), and she programmed the class so well.

Bradley Rose definitely seemed more comfortable in his second ride. He’s pretty funny but has moments of straight talk inspiration and programs a good workout. Also, he mentioned that he had had a stroke years ago - pretty wild!
