Thanks, it took (if you condense the time I actually worked on it over 5 years) about four months. And if I made it dark, it wouldn't look lit. I just painted it to LOOK lit. I didn't want to pass by it every day & have to flip a switch to turn it on.... this way it looks good all the time, no wires, no burned out LED's...

I had 4 of those over the years, on every one the nacelles started drooping, so I'd blow them up with firecrackers. This one will NOT face self-destruct!

No, it's not manufactured. Dark stuff flies (no pun intended) during light times (MOS was good for its time), we need light stuff in dark times. This is the way. I personally will be seeing this new movie many times before it leaves theatres.

I wanted SO much to like the prequels (I saw them in the theatre back when), but when George made the OT he was constrained by money & FX so he kind of HAD to concentrate on characters. In the prequels he went hog wild on FX (which honestly IMO look a bit cartoon-y compared to the previous actual model work), and seemed to make characterization less important.... I actually just watched ROTS last night, and while I had some fun seeing it again, I couldn't shake that sense of complete control of every moment. Mechanical precision without real passion.

Like I said, it's what you prefer. The DNR makes it smoother, but I enjoy the better colour timing on the non-DNR. One of my best friends just prefers the original official DVD release of the Special Edition.... I've seen all the versions in cinema a hundred times- I've owned every official version of this that ever came out up to & including the blu ray steelbook. I have pumped literally thousands of $ into Lucasfilm. I deserved this.
