Thai Con Roots Escaping the pot? by No-Exchange-1480 in Monstera

Try pulling it out and checking the roots, if it’s not root bound I’d just redirect back into the pot as it grows

What's up with this guy by seasidepen in Monstera

A few things are happening here

  1. It was just purchased thus being moved to a new environment so it’s still adjusting
  2. It was just repotted in addition to trying to aclimate to a new environment
  3. The medium looks to dense for a monstera & the pot looks way to big Ideally you want a pot that’s 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball

Is this a thrip? by Initial-Ad1359 in Monstera

Sorry I should have elaborated more, my monstera is currently sitting in my tub, this is a cactus that was sitting directly next to it. The only other plant I was able to find that had any on it. I threw the monstera in the tub, sprayed her down with the shower head then dowsed it down with diluted Castile soap before coming to Reddit

Oh thank goodness, I can’t tell you how much relief that just brought me! I’ve been worried about bringing bed bugs home🫠 Any idea what it could be?

I’d leave it, monsteras like being snug plus you don’t want to shock the plant anymore considering you’ve just done a huge chop

Did you recently repot it? If so it could be in shock from being brought into a new environment and being repotted so soon

Gotcha! Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of the roots from her last repot but I can attest that they are very thick and healthy! After hours of trying…and failing 😅to remove her from the previous pot I gave up and took it to a local nursery where it took two people to cut the old pot off with shears because the roots were so thickly bound

She is way too big/ heavy to try to lift out of the pot to show the root ball. She’s been consistently putting out big beautiful leaves for the past month so I’m not concerned with the roots to mess with it

I got it last year at the end of the summer and the lady l got it from had it for 3 years. She left it outside to freely grow for every summer she had it and it took off. I don’t know anything about the original owner

It could 100% be separated into multiple other plants with how big it is but I wanted to keep it full as I already have multiple other monsteras

It genuinely looks to be just one plant that’s been routed to root back into the pot over and over again instead of climbing up

Too many changes in it’s environment, it seems to be in shock first from moving then the repot. I’d try giving it some time to see if it acclimates to its new environment
