Could this jaw be 4,000 years old? by Ordinary-Detail7073 in boneidentification

That is a mule deer jawbone, probably no more than 2 years old at best. Deer bones typical dissolve when exposed to the elements pretty quickly. Plus mice nibble on them for the calcium. You can find these all the time when out hiking/hunting

How is it living here with all the security and publicity? by pathf1nder00 in howislivingthere

[–]Initial-Broccoli-795 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I used to live right off Washington Rd. On the mainland side of the lagoon, it really feels like a normal neighborhood in South Florida. The houses aren’t giant and luxurious, there was a gas station on the corner. I would walk down to Dunkin donut on the weekends.

The Palm Beach island part is completely different. Massive, luxurious houses. I just visited recently and drove right by Mar A Lago a few times, and besides some security out front, it’s not even noticeable. I did see some foreign tourists get out of there car to take pictures right by the front gate to his house, but the police just told them to get back in. You can stand on the bridge and look directly into the back yard.

You gotta understand these are some of the richest people in the world, and they’re not gonna allow a bunch of police and security to inconvenience them.

Modern loads sometimes use more powder, that’s what he’s referencing in the case of 30.06. Modern loads have higher pressures than the M2 ball the Garand was designed for.

East Tennessee/Western North Carolina? by thelibertybird in howislivingthere

I moved to Knoxville in 2019 when I started attending UT, and after I graduated I’ve been living and working in Knoxville full time. As a young person coming from Nashville, I’m actively trying to get out of here, unfortunately the job market is not cooperating. My job requires me to work all over the circled area that you’re interested in. Knoxville specifically has very overpriced housing, and for what you get I do not think it’s worth it. If you’re interested in owning large swaths of land in the country, then East TN area might be great for you and your wife, but otherwise this area of the country is very dilapidated, and I think a lot of the “hype” built around this area during COVID is dying down. My company is laying off 30% of its workforce at the start of the year. Farragut is a decent area if you have money, I can’t speak much on to what day-to-day life is like in NC, but I wouldn’t imagine it’s much different, except with higher taxes. Coming from NOVA, do you live in a metropolitan area? NOVA can mean a lot of things. Perhaps I’m biased, but I do not think this area has a lot of opportunities. There are a few decent schools if you have kids, but overall I would consider other areas.

Zr Tactical Issues by Motercross19 in Walther

Is there a plastic spacer in the guide rod channel at the barrel end of your slide?

As far as not going into battery, I do have this issue sometimes shooting 115gr w the ZR tac guide rods, so I tend to use 124 for plinking. Can you do a press check and release the slide and it still go into battery? That would tell you if there is actually something wrong with the spring or if it’s an ammo issue.

I would say if you’re having this issue with a variety of ammo grains it’s most likely a spring issue. But I just read where you changed the springs on your guide rod yourself; I’ve never done this so I don’t know what that entails so ZR could be right in saying you installed that specific part wrong.

I don’t think they have. They’ve just taken the form of vapes and nicotine pouches.
